No Wave Radio Clash is my homage to the no wave & post-punk scene(s) in NYC and the UK in the 1970’s and 80’s. Bands like James White & The Blacks, Liquid Liquid, Gray, ESG & The Clash all have influenced me musically and how I approach entertaining dancefloors. The polyrhythms, the incorporation of live instruments like the saxophone and the usage of heavy synthesizers are why I loved this era of music -- I also think it's dope that there was so much crossover with post-punk and no wave and how they paralleled the same energy/vibe as early hip-hop (i.e. Blondie's "Rapture") and continued influence on contemporary pop music (i.e. Diplo/MIA's "Paper Planes").

The non-commercial/DIY mantra as well as the thoughtful incorporation of visuals are also an aesthetic that I learned from this movement, and they’re attributes I always strive for in the parties I throw.

This mix effortlessly moves from 1970’s all the way through 2014 with no wave/post-punk essentials, as well as shining light on some of the musicians who have kept that sound and sensibility alive like DFA Records, Toro Y Moi, Jamie Lidell, Washed Out and Little Dragon.
