Are you aware of what's going on with the manga? The artist deleted all their posts on Twitter and Weibo, and I heard some people talking about legal problems. I'm afraid for the future of the manga...

Yuzurin has been deleting posts before, so that's not really anything new. She has been having personal issues with haters online whom were starting to target her family as well. So she is going to take legal action (or at least, she said she was planning to). But the fact that the Weibo account is completely gone now without any communication as to why is worrisome.

I was hoping that the official X account of the manga would at least update us, but they haven't been posting anything either since the last chapter.

The lack of communication isn't great. I really hope we get an update soon.

The longer they stay silent, the more rumors are going to spread...

none of you understand the core theme of MDZS, because it tackles a fundamentally unpleasant subject. How debt is coercive, abusive, and corrodes a relationship, even if it might seem like it makes people tied to you. There's a reason that WWX's love confession contains a disclaimer about how his love for LWJ is not because he is indebted to him. There's a reason LWJ does not confess, or push WWX for a relationship. WWX is hypersensitive to the debts he owes, whether to the Jiangs, to the Wens, or even to Jin Ling. LWJ does not want a relationship where WWX feels the need to repay him. Thus, "no sorries, or thank yous between us".

Honestly, the reason a lot of people don't understand this theme is because they are stuck on the idea that WWX owes someone something, anything, they think his sensitivity to debt is something to be encouraged. But, it's not a good thing, and it eats away at him, bit by bit. That's the story of his first life. LWJ is his reward, essentially, and represents freedom from debt, a love that does not contain the subtle and corrosive coercion of debt

Whenever you feel like leaving a mean comment, anonymous hate or make a ~clever post about how ‘lol look at all of these overused tropes every fic writer crams into their fics’ remember you’re being a dick to someone who shared their work with you. Would you be up for a Hot Take on the MDZS donghua? Somebody’s Top Ten list of Anime(!?) Series With Cold, Unemotional, and Uncaring Protagonists awarded first place to...Mo Dao Zu Shi. To go by the context, this impression seems to have been based solely on Episode 1.15, which showcases WWX in full spooky Scorpio-with-a-vendetta mode. By way of synopsis, the narrator rotely parroted the intro from EXR’s translation (which they pretty clearly had not even remotely *read.*)

WAIT I JUST REALIZED THAT THE OFFICIAL/REVISED RELEASE SKIPPED OVER AN ENTIRE SECTION OF ONE OF MY FAVORITE MOMENTS IN THE ORIGINAL

“Nothing,” Wei Wuxian said, merry. “Lan Zhan, you really are a good person.”

Lan Wangji, seemingly unsure as to how he should respond to this, shot him a strange look. 

Wei Wuxian continued speaking. “And I just realized, how can I be this bad? Even as a kid, I was bad. If I apologize to you now, would it be too late?”

At this, Lan Wangji raised an eyebrow, a rare moment of expressiveness from him. “Apologize?”

In the past, each time this person would demand that he apologize, his wrongdoings would only escalate in magnitude. “Don’t look at me like that,” Wei Wuxian said. “I’m being serious. Ah, forget it. Let’s not bring up old debts, shall we?”

Looking back now, it’s hard not to feel guilty for what he’s done when they were both young. 

“It’s probably because he’s always so stoic… that I can’t help but love seeing him lose his composure,” Wei Wuxian thought. “That’s probably why I always felt the need to tease him so. Really, I was terrible!”

It’s good, then, that Lan Zhan never truly hated him.

It is strange: even though they were supposed to be on the run, Wei Wuxian couldn’t feel even the slightest bit nervous. Riding a donkey and being led by Lan Wangji, his heart felt light, as though it were floating in his chest. In this moment, feeling like this, even if they were to be attacked and ambushed right now, it really wouldn’t seem like such a big deal.
