Rest in Immortality, Kevin Conroy

I don’t know what to say, other than Batman has died. Kevin Conroy, who has voiced Batman for 30 years (this year actually would be the 30th anniversary of Batman the Animated Series) has passed away. What can I say? I grew up with him as Batman. From The Animated Series, to The New Adventures, to Justice League, Justice League: Unlimited, Batman Beyond, the Arkham games, Injustice, the animated movies. I never met him in my life, but yet I’m writing this with tears in my eyes as if I’m losing a long time friend. I grew up with him as my Batman. Hell, I even named one of my dogs Ace because that was the name of Batman’s dog in Batman Beyond (pictured left; yes, I know Ace was in the comics before Beyond). Conroy’s voice demanded attention. Every Batman comic I’ve read, I’ve always had Conroy’s voice in my head while reading. I know he’s done other projects, like I remember watching an episode of Cheers one day and I heard THAT voice and it was him. It was Kevin Conroy on Cheers, so he’s been around for a long time and his voice will be around for centuries to come.
In closing, I’m going to share some of my favorite clips of Conroy as Batman. But make no mistake:
He is vengeance.
He is the night.
And he will always be Batman.

I can’t be the only one who teared up when Batman said goodbye to Alfred.
There will never be anyone with the chemistry Conroy and Mark Hamill had.
