DC Government: Focusing on What's Important
I came across this gem of a news report today on my beloved hometown of Washington, DC.  It would be funny if it were a farce, but unfortunately, it’s a truthful account:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/capitalbusiness/district-investigators-take-on-alcohol-portions/2013/02/15/bae9d326-749f-11e2-aa12-e6cf1d31106b_story.html
This whole event oozes with things that I detest:
1) Ridiculous government regulations.
2) The government insertion into customer/business relations. Couldn’t the customers who had disagreements about the amount of alcohol they were being served either complain to the manager or  stop frequenting those establishments?  The last thing that restaurants want, especially in a small city like DC, is negative impressions about their businesses to spread by word of mouth.  That is more potent than any government regulation and fine.
3) That the DC government actually has an Office of Weights and Measures.  Seriously, it reads like something out of the Soviet Union.  Heaven forbid a business uses a measuring device that hasn’t been inspected and registered with the DC government.
What a waste of business owners’ time and money.  What a waste of taxpayer money to enforce these regulations.  What recockulousness all around.
