A wave of relief washed over Lily as they arrived at the empty floor. They would have the place to themselves, even if for a short moment.
Lily was a girl of extreme patience, a virtue which at times she would come to recognize as more of a curse. When it came to Tony, however, she exercised her gift with compassion and caution. She retained a simple form of gratification by simply placing herself close to him, to let him she was there when he was ready. She wasn't oblivious to the stress in his life, but she would not hound him if he was unwilling.
"I worry about you, Tony," was all she would say on the matter.
Nightmares: How about a night cap
Upon entering the elevator after Tony, Lily took a deep breathe, contemplating her next words.
"I uh, wouldn’t know," she mumbled, trying to ease off that topic.
She’d spent a substantial amount of time with Tony and the rest of the team, but she’d always rather hoped that Tony might want to spend some time with just the two of them.
