on a list of things cam had expected, coming face to face with his brother in the school library had to be towards the bottom of the list. even now, he wasn’t sure what emotion he should be feeling, yet he couldn’t shake this uneasy feeling in his gut. cam was alert, on edge, and he was trapped in an endless cycle of letting his guard down only to build it up again. he waited for a serious answer from his brother, though he wasn’t the least bit surprised when he was met with a joke, of all things.
“seriously?” he muttered under his breath, gaze fixated on his brother as if he was a ghost. “can you try to be serious for a minute?” it was a lot to ask, but cam felt like he deserved an actual explanation. why was his brother here, and why now? “don’t get me wrong, it’s good to see you,” he added in an attempt to ease any tension. “but why are you here? and you know that i’m not talking about the library.”
although he didn’t expect this to be easy, he had almost forgotten just how much his brother could push when he wanted an explanation. he should’ve come up with something before approaching, so he could be prepared and have a lie roll right off of his tongue with ease. instead, he had to buy himself some time by being himself, perhaps more so than usual. cam wasn’t going to like it, but there was no way that he could tell him the truth. not yet.
this wasn’t fair, will knew that. cam deserved answers or at least an explanation that even somewhat made sense, but will was still processing the truth himself. it’s not a burden he wanted to share, especially not when the point of being here is to look out for cam. why would he dump this load on him and complicate things further? it just didn’t feel like an option. “i am being serious, this is what it looks like when i’m being serious. has your time away caused you to forget who i am that fast? damn, that hurts.” he feigns offense for several moments, then a smile breaks through, making it seem as though he’s amused. inside, he wasn’t so much.
“oh, you mean thousands of miles away from home at the same magical university that you ditched us for? just wanted to check in, see what you’ve been up to.”

there were many selfish things nisa had done in her life and she’s fairly sure this is one of the most. it was so deeply selfish that there was a part of her wondering just how far she would go. if she would even be able to go through with what she wished to. all the theatrics and whimsy of the holiday was so far in her peripheral, she just couldn’t stop thinking about him. couldn’t get will off her mind, it had only gotten so much worse since her birthday. maybe it was the clarity of being away and in the woods gave her or being absolutely frightened back to sense by their ghost adventure. all she knew was that she remembered not yet being asleep and finding herself gazing at him and the freckles that spread across his nose, nisa saelim having an actual crush? crush didn’t feel like the right word. not at all. it was too simple, didn’t mean enough.
perhaps it’s all she could live with for now, something to brush off how good it felt being around him. how easy it was to just be. how he was something she found herself looking forward to everyday, to what mischievous shenanigans they would get up to that would have her falling into stiches of laughter. what art piece she would get inspired to paint on his skin. it wasn’t like she was pushing him away. she didn’t want to. which meant she wouldn’t.
the darkness was still so hard to see through, fog not helping any matters. or, she supposed it was helping her. can’t get caught. can’t get caught! her pulse was as wild as her thoughts in the moment. feeling that familiar feeling of holding her breath, the anticipation was like sitting in the eye of a storm. knowing one way or another..it would crash into you. his words and laughter however, had her grinning in the dark, dammit. he was going to inadvertently blow her cover and this was it. time to do or die. hello to you too. she almost said, especially once she felt him find her form in the dark as well. one of her hands helping his find her ass ( so she.indulged herself a little ) before she grabs him softly by his neck. the other slowly moving up his arm, soon caressing his cheek running her thumb across his bottom lip as if to shush him. it felt so right to be against him, horribly horribly right. hauntingly so. she knew she was attaching herself to him in ways that he didn’t know about. torturing herself by falling for someone who wasn’t really hers to have.
yet here she was, time slowing so much that she wonders if it paused entirely. the universe holding its breath with her. would she give in? let herself take what she wants? before she had time to think about it anymore she was pulling him to her. pressing her lips against his in a tender, heated gasp. no turning back. just the feel and taste of his lips against hers. call her dramatic, but she could swear the earth shifted underneath her feet.
this was all so wild and mysterious, which will found himself enjoying. although he had no idea who was standing in front of him, he didn’t feel any discomfort or unease. for whatever reason, he felt compelled to remain here with this person in the dark, happily allowing whoever it was to take his hand and guide it until he was exactly where they wanted him to be. suddenly feeling frisky and mischievous as he realizes the turn this is taking, he playfully hums and softly chuckles with amusement. “ahh, so that’s what kind of encounter this is...” considering the fact that he had no clue who was touching and holding him this way, he got the feeling that this should feel wrong... but it didn’t.
he was getting the vibe that he knew this person somehow, someway... he just wasn’t sure who they were. with the way that they gently trailed a hand up his arm and to his cheek, stroking it just before running a thumb across his bottom lip, this felt all too tender and determined for it to be a random encounter. feeling this way only made him wish that he knew who it was all the more, but given that they wouldn’t tell him or give him any signs or hints, he took it they wanted to remain hidden. he would respect that... not that he had much of a choice. it was far too dark for him to make anything out even if he wanted to ( which he did... he desperately did ).
the hand that softly wrapped around his throat causes him to clench his jaw and he presses himself forward, fingers digging into soft skin where the mysterious stranger had placed his palm against their ass. he smirks, though he knows it can’t possibly be seen. if he can’t see them, they can’t see him... so how do they know who he is? maybe they don’t and everything he senses is entirely off the mark... he just feels too calm when this should probably be a weird situation. why doesn’t it feel weird? why is his breathing slowing as he anticipates something more to come? why isn’t he pulling away? he can’t bring himself to... he doesn’t want to... but why?
since he’s unable to see anything coming, he lets out a quiet noise of surprise when he’s pulled even closer, soon feeling soft lips pressing against his own. he’s tense at first, though he quickly begins to relax as his eyes close ( not that it makes a difference ). he deeply inhales through his nose and lets it out accompanied by a low hum as he pulls the person even closer, parting his lips and pushing forward to deepen and intensify the kiss. this didn’t feel like a smart move, though he wasn’t known for making good decisions... besides, all of this has given him such a rush and the unknown is so thrilling.

location — haunted house ( for now ) with — @msuwill
heeled purple boots paced back and forth in one of the empty hallways. nails softly tapping against the glass bottle containing her trick or treat surprise. felix felicis. a potion not unfamiliar, just one she hadn’t needed much in life. bottom lip tucked between her teeth in concentration as she studied it. trying so hard to figure out why she felt nervous, was her own brain hiding things from her now? it’s possible. perhaps it knew something nisa didn’t. she wondered momentarily what she was about to get herself into. the hwaseong stopped her cycled pacing. popping open the lid and swirling around the liquid within, watching as it glimmered. that was when she decided to swallow it, not doubting anymore. just doing.
a blink. then she could feel the buzz of magic flooding her system. reassurance and knowing. making her let go of anything holding her back. she tucked the potion bottle nimbly into her bag and flicked her daphne red ‘for the night’ hair over her shoulder. it was only a few seconds later that she took off, so sure of where she wished to go. where to find him.
it was starting to become clear to her that she wouldn’t be able to bed this curiosity. one that had been nagging at the back of her mind. making her feel things she shouldn’t, but she was used to getting into trouble. she had luck on her side tonight. plus, her extra boost of birthday ego still resided. nisa needed to know, had to know. the whimsy and sound of hallows eve so loud and joyous around her. splashes of water from the apple bobbing, the smell of cinnamon and pumpkins in the air. laughter and loud ‘BOOS!’. some butterbeer called her name, but she couldn’t get distracted. not as her destination came into view.
something in her paused as she got to the back entrance of the haunted house. telling herself it was just going to be this once. halloween was the perfect cover as she entered, the darkness shrouding her. following the gut feeling of where will was in this place. hoping to merlin and back none of the haunters in here made her yelp. luckily, she didnt. with a turn she bumped into a solid figure and jumped, careful to cover her mouth from making any noise or apologizing. eyes only sort of adjusting to the darkness.
the whisper of nerves coming back as she slowly reached out to see where it was he stood, feeling the darkness like a mime until aha! found you hair and then shoulders. ones that felt all broad and strong, hm definitely will — stop that, don’t be stupid. she cursed herself. she had a mission! one that had a time limit, risks, so many risks. the main one being the fact that she couldn’t let him see her. waiting, so hard that she almost couldn’t breath. would he push her away? pull her closer? yell? there was at least a 50 / 50 chance of yelling. she couldn’t utter one word and it was too late to care if it was a bad idea. she was committed to it now.
unlike his brother, will had always ( for the most part ) loved halloween. mostly because he doesn’t get to have so much candy any other day of the year, but also because of his interest in ghosts and other supernatural legends and creatures. his favorite movies were old cheesy horror movies and dressing up just seemed fun. he hadn’t had a reason to do it in years, so this was especially exciting for him. it took him back to his younger years— the good parts— and it was more than a welcome experience.
even though he was doing his best to stay focused on the moment and enjoying himself, there was a bit of guilt that followed him around as he thinks about who he blew off just so he could have this freedom tonight. he doesn’t mean to be an asshole, sometimes it’s just sort of in his nature. as a person that rarely has the opportunity to have his own self-interest in mind, he felt deserving of spending this halloween doing whatever he felt like, though it was sort of shitty that hanging out with his girlfriend wasn’t in the cards... he was a dick. he was absolutely the worst, no doubt about it, but that’s something he would repent for some other day.
he’d agreed to hang out with nisa for a while tonight when they’d been spending time on her birthday, and he didn’t exactly want to rearrange those plans. the more that he finds himself hanging out with her, the more he wants to. they have common interests and make each other laugh and he just feels comfortable and relaxed when he’s with her. there’s no judgement, and they have fun together... that’s not something that he can get from many other people, so who can genuinely blame him for wanting to take advantage of that?
maybe he was just trying to justify being absolute scum, but again, tonight wasn’t the night for him to worry about it. the entire point was so that he would enjoy himself, not so that he’d have anything poisoned by his own thoughts or feelings. the only thing he wanted to be feeling was himself getting scared shitless, because that’s what this night is for, right? fear? and fun? he was going to have a good time, goddamn it.
he isn’t sure why he walked inside of the haunted house as he awaited his company. perhaps he wanted to try scaring her... or... something. there was no true explanation, it’s as though his feet had a mind of their own as he ventured inside, aimlessly wandering as he did his best to make out anything he could in the dark. it was so impossible for him to see that he held up his hand in front of his face and couldn’t even make it out... he’s so focused on how he can’t see anything that he’s taken off guard when someone bumps into him, and just as he’s about to say something, he feels their hands in his hair and trailing down to his shoulders. he’s so confused by it that he doesn’t even know how to respond, but he’s kinda into it. “well... hello there.” quiet laughter spills from his lips and he reaches out himself, trying to get a feel of whoever is holding onto him. “who’re you?”

Do you believe in fate or destiny?
"i... don’t... know... i almost feel like i’m supposed to say yes because people seem softer and more down to earth when they say yes, but i just can’t say for sure... which makes me lean towards no.” he sighs, taking a moment to attempt gathering his thoughts. “it’s like this... i guess i believe in soulmates and some things happening for a reason and all that, but i also don’t feel like anything is set in stone. it makes me feel kind of trapped or... or... helpless when i try thinking about there being this single outcome that is going to happen no matter what i do. i don’t like feeling like i’m just some puppet to a higher power or something. i feel like people might even have more than one soulmate, and there could be different types of soulmates. i feel like... i have a destiny, i guess, but that doesn’t mean i can’t change it. or at least... that’s what i have to believe. i want to feel like i’m the author of my own story, you know? damn, i said feel so much that it doesn’t even feel like a real word anymore.”

— birthday starter for @nisamsu !
growing up, birthdays had never been a big deal in the park household. the last birthday party will remembers having was when he was around ten, and ever since then, they’ve all kind of sucked. sometimes he’d get a gift from cam, though it was usually something super inexpensive or some “treasure” that he found somewhere. they meant the world to will and he held on to every single one, but it wasn’t enough to make him look forward to his birthday. for the most part, it was just another day. him surviving another year wasn’t special... it got to a point where celebrating seemed entirely unnecessary. birthdays just weren’t all that important. or so, not for his small family at least.
for almost everyone else he met, it wasn’t like that. birthdays, for them, were exciting and fun and it was a day for them to be appreciated, loved, and showered in attention. must be nice... he didn’t want to seem like he didn’t care. nisa meant enough to him by this point that he wanted to prove it to her. he didn’t want to be the only one of her friends that didn’t give her anything. though, it was extremely obvious that he couldn’t afford to buy her any fancy gifts, so he was going to have to give her the disgustingly cliche and probably totally not awesome gift of... himself. his time and a memory was the best he could offer.
even after accepting that, he reached a new problem: he has no idea what to suggest. what do normal people like to do? wait— better question... what do magical people like to do? obviously he was one, but barely, so he had no freakin’ idea. the best he could do is come up with something that would be fun for himself and hope for the best, but that hardly seemed fair. what if she wasn’t as much like him as he initially figured? however, he had no other options.
they’re both always up for adventures, and with their interest in the supernatural, he thought it’d be fun for then to try spending the night in the forest... camping... ghost hunting? it’s something he hasn’t done in a while ( the camping, that is ), at least leisurely, and it felt exciting. nisa seemed like the kind of person to enjoy this kind of thing, so he went out on a limb and asked. lucky for him, she didn’t turn him down by telling him it was the most unfun thing she’d ever heard of, so that felt like a win. that’s how he ended up standing by the edge of the woods, awkwardly staring down at the ground as he awaited the arrival of the birthday girl.

what toy did you hate most as a child?
“alright, i’ll just tell you the entire story behind this... it was almost christmas of '09, right? dad was busy with... i dunno, whatever it was that he was always busy with, so he forgot to buy presents for cammy and me. the thing is, he’d been talking about santa coming and asking me all kinds of questions about what i thought he was gonna be getting for the entire month, so i felt like it was my responsibility as a big brother to figure something out. i was twelve, though, so i didn’t have any money of my own, and i was a bit of a problem child as it was, so my solution was probably super fucked up, but my intentions were good. anyway, i walked a few blocks and found a house with no car in the driveway, though i did notice some toys in the yard, so i knew that some kids lived there. climbed over their backyard fence, went in through the doggy door, grabbed a couple of wrapped presents and put them in my bag before heading back home, feeling like a criminal santa claus. my conscience was clear though, because at least my baby brother was going to have some presents to unwrap on christmas. moving on to christmas morning, cammy excitedly unwrapped the presents to find a creepy baby doll and two barbies. i nearly died laughing, but in my defense, i had no idea that i had stolen girly toys, i didn’t have a clue what was in them. but, to finally answer your question, the doll was the one i hated the most, because like i said, the thing was creepy as hell. as revenge for the crappy gifts i robin hooded for him, he liked to place it in my bed with me while i was asleep... the thought of its little dead face and blank stare still keeps me up at night...”

“oh, ho ho.” her voice crooned, “and where do you think you are going? this is no time for chickening out! it’s pumpkin battle time. where are your manners?” nisa teased, brushing her arms over the air as she presented the elaborate set up she’d made. plastic for easy clean up, made a square on the grass. littered with carving tools, buckets, plus lots and lots of glitter. oh! and how could she forget? candles to place inside. there was even a bowl of assorted candy.
“it’s october and i’ll be damned if i don’t get to live my most festive fantasies this year.” last year, she had broken off a fling around this time. the air had gotten colder all too soon and she was feeling lower than normal, it had dampened one of her absolute favorite holidays. never again would she let that happen. this year was all about improvement and without all that extra dead weight hanging around, she was feeling pretty fucking good.
she looked to the person and gave them her best pleading eye + pout combo. “you know you want to, come on. art with me!’
“oh, please.” a grin forms on his face as he turns back around to face nisa, a playful glint in his eye. “will park is many things, but coward isn’t one of them. i was just... you know... scoping out the area. hyping myself up. whatever. i’m not about to back down from a challenge.” truth be told, he had no idea what he was doing, but he wasn’t going to be deemed a chicken. she would soon find out that he puts a hundred and ten percent into anything if it’s even hinted at being a competition.
“this is an impressive set-up you’ve got goin’ on. wow. you had all this planned out and made sure you didn’t forget anything, huh... i love it. it’s inspiring.” quietly, a chuckle slips past his lips as he takes everything in, eyes soon fixating on the glitter. “that is a lot of glitter. i feel like i’m going to walk away from this looking like i was attacked by some pcp crazed strippers.” and with that, his laughter gets louder and becomes more hearty as he tries to get over his own joke, eventually composing himself and clearing his throat.
“right, yeah, of course. october and festive fantasies, i hear ya. let’s get right to it, then. i think i should warn you, though, i suck at art. like... seriously. anything that i could possibly create will look like it was done by a five year old, it’s just something i’ve come to accept. don’t be too critical, alright?”

it was one of those days where nisa needed a break from all the chaos. while trouble seemed to constantly flirt with her, she did need to recharge. when her fear of being alone gets overridden by her need for a serene art space. normally it would be her room, but her particularly promiscuous roommate had basically told nisa and their roommate rules to go fuck off. not on the days she really needed to have some peace. alas, she had been about to get paint to canvas when she started to hear whatever was transpiring in the others room. Her brush had almost impaled the wall, feet carrying her along in a storm of annoyance collecting what she needed. Muttering, ‘we had one single rule’ along her breath the entire way. that had brought her here, to one of the art rooms. doors and windows open and swirling with delicate curtains.
art supplies strewn about the floor she was currently kneeling on. music filling the room and her mind in create mode, free fingers tapping along while her others held a brush that flowed a scarlet red. washes of color and vision. turning up the tunes, she collected her hair into a pile. All messy atop her head. art chic. her focus then went back to the paints and utensils, ears full of rock music, and a general lack of care for her safety or well being. that meant she was an easy target for a surprise attack or even a surprise visitor. you never really know in a world filled with possible impossibilities; magic.
not that any of that crossed her mind in this moment. normally, she would have been more vigilant, but she was still annoyed from before. It clouded her judgement. as she bit her lip in concentration on a particular line she’d sketched out before starting. eyebrows scrunching up yet feeling her worries wash away one swoosh of her wrist after another. like she was dancing and having much fun doing so. spots of her project all along her skin. not aware of the possible eyes on her. she was too far off in her thoughts.
being in an unfamiliar setting was a mixture of extremely unsettling and thrilling for will. not having a plan was weird, and as much as he felt like he was supposed to hate it, it kind of made him feel more alive than he'd been in a very long time. it's like the cage he'd been kept in for so many years has finally been opened and now he's free to take flight, except he can't quite remember how to use his wings. so, he was on his own and, frankly, rather lost.
to get the peace of being familiar with his new so-called "home" and the excitement of exploring a new place, he took it upon himself to wander the halls and various ( usually ) empty classrooms. truth be told, it kinda sucked and he was getting bored, beginning to wonder if he should turn around to find some company to liven things up. however, that all immediately shifted the second his brain processed what he heard. it'd been in earshot for a while, but he was so used to listening to it that will probably wrote it off as the "elevator music" in his head. but, no. someone was listening to his music. an amused grin formed as he took it upon himself to make his way toward the familiar tune, peering inside of what he soon discovered was an art room, and... well, hello there.
his smile slightly widened as he watched for a moment, taking note that the artist was far too caught up in her work to even notice another presence. that gave him an idea... probably not a good one, but since when was he capable of coming up with those? so, his footsteps were quiet as he drew nearer to the unsuspecting girl, perhaps unashamedly checking her out in the process. he leaned against a table and remained there, quietly watching her for several moments, soon slightly nodding his head along to the music. then, abruptly and without any warning whatsoever, he loudly sings along, "and we'd steal away every chance we could, to the backroom, the alley, or the trusty woods. i used her, she used me, but neither one cared — we were getting our share... workin' on our night moves."

unwanted presence
msucal
it’s not often that cal would dislike someone. sure, there are some people that get under his skin. but most of the time, he likes to think he’s carefree and easygoing that whoever he likes a lot likes him back. of course, sometimes his nosiness comes in the way of it and he finds getting more people to dislike him. his not what he’s going for obviously, but he doesn’t blame them. it’s not their fault for not clashing well with his personality.
really, he can only think of two people immediately who he can confidently say that he dislikes a normal amount. he unfortunately had to deal with levi at the paintball fight and his reason for disliking him was more personal. it was for his own reasons. and after that interaction earlier, he doesn’t expect to see him again for the rest of the carnival. so he walks by stands, trying his very best to be in a good mood after all that’s happened. but he bumps into someone due to him being distracted whilst scrolling through his buzzer timeline. thankfully, his phone doesn’t fall and break. that’d be very unfortunate.
“ah, sorry,” he says as he stops his steps to look up at the other. “i should’ve watched where i-” he stops speaking as soon as he recognizes the face. “oh,” his face drops into a not so happy look. but it’s granted, considering this is person number two: will park. “it’s you. then nevermind. you should’ve watched where you were going.”
will hadn't been around any of these people or this environment for long, but he already could confidently say that this wasn't going to be fondly thought back on as the best days of his life. school in general wasn't something he enjoyed, and if it hadn't been for his brother, he wouldn't be here at all. the unnecessary drama only proved that it was stupid, so he couldn't stand the fact that he somehow managed to find himself involved in it.
there was no reason for him to have any beef with cal. the only thing that irritated will was that cal seemed to think otherwise. will literally hadn't done anything to him, yet he acted like such a bitch. he was immature, and unfortunately, so was will most of the time. maybe that's why it was so easy for them to become enemies despite nothing starting off as personal.
"you really had me for a second there." he starts to grin, tilting his head as he looks at the other. "thought maybe you were ready to bury the hatchet... but, no. you're still a dick. not only a dick, either, but a hypocritical dick. that's... that's great." he’s tempted to ask what cal’s problem is, but he doesn’t. what’s the point? knowing won’t change anything. “maybe if you weren’t so glued to that screen, you’d have a better grasp on the real world.”
