summerharlowe:
Unnecessary cruelty was kind of Summer’s forte, she said what was on her mind, without a care in the world whether or not she ended up hurting someone in the process. June seemed like a fragile thing, careful with her words, careful not to take up too much space wherever she was. It was cute, but in the end, it wouldn’t get her very far in life. Summer wasn’t rude intentionally, it just kind of happened automatically. “You might not intend for it to make our lives easier, but you do. Us prefects don’t have to worry about you at all.” It must be kind of boring, not doing anything radical ever - then again, Summer wasn’t radical in any way, her rudeness was kind of the only thing that gave her an edge. “I am blunt, that’s no secret. And I’m not a joker, again, not a secret,” she replied sternly, blinking just once while speaking. Already she was kind of bored by the conversation. “The day I become the queen of jokes will be the day the world has ended.”
“If you want me to cause you more trouble then say that. You seem to be underemployed - like you need something to do.” June tilted her head to the side. “Or you are just being you - I won’t claim to know you pretty well, but I guess everyone knows who you pretend to be.” June had been diplomatic for a bit and now that it felt like Summer was not even able to stay civil for a few moments she wasn’t trying to keep a friendly conversation especially not if the other seemed so hostile. “Then let’s hope you never find your sense of humor, but I don’t have a single doubt you would actually fin it.”

astoriadahl:
Astoria was always interesting in finding new books to read, and if June was reading muggle literature, she was more than keen on finding new books to read. She had brought some of her favourites to Hogwarts, but she had read those books so many times already. She tilted her head to look at the cover, but she couldn’t say that she recognised the title from when her and her grandmother had gone shopping for books. “She moves in with a boy who has rules for her? That… That doesn’t sound good at all, why would this girl want to live with a guy who has rules for her. What kind of rules are they?” She was intrigued, Astoria wouldn’t lie. “Is it a romance novel? I like romance novels, despite the fact that I’m terrible about anything and everything romantic in real life. You should see me attempting to flirt, it’s pathetic.” Perhaps she could learn a thing or two from reading more romance novels.
Astoria seemed genuinely interested and that was probably the reason why June decided to turn around to her a bit more. If the other girl was interested in this, she wouldn’t deny her some more information. That was not her style. “She does. She was apartment hunting for a few days but she decided she couldn’t stay in the local hostel forever and this boy is quite rude to her, but he also is the one who seems to be the most normal of out of all people she has met during this apartment hunt.” June looked down at the book. She didn’t have much left to read so she was quite sure how it would end. “And the rules are really pretty silly - he basically forbids her to invade the living room with her female friends, he claims it is supposed to be a female free zone unless he is having a party. He also tells her that she is not allowed to whine in front of him - be the typical girl most guys have in mind when thinking of one you know? Talkative, emotional et cetera.” June shrugged her shoulders. “And still she takes the room and moves in with him. And it somehow is a pretty interesting dynamic. And yes it is a romance novel I guess, not as romantic and sappy as it could be, but it heads in that direction.”

theorpingtonmirage:
There was something disconcerting about June Fletcher to Mira, ever since they had met properly she couldn’t help but following June with her eyes every time the Ravenclaw walked into her sight and not because she was wary of June or anything. It was just… odd. She paused her jog to halt, stopping by the other girl and tugging one rebel strand of hair back where it belonged. “You— ah, don’t worry, hi June, didn’t see it was you.” She managed to squeak out an awkward smile, sure the flush was because she had been running laps around the castle. Get yourself together, Mira. While she had absolutely zero reasons to be fumbling around June Fletcher, a most unimportant half-blood girl, there she was, making a fool out of herself. “I was running— training.” She waves at the clothes she’s wearing, still Gryffindor’s colors but mostly muggle-like attire for running. She nods at the books in June’s hands. “You were studying out here on the cold?”
The Ravenclaw looked at the other girl and had admit something about the Gryffindor was strangely intriguing. June couldn’t even put a finger on it, there was no word she knew that could describe why she felt that way. Usually she would simply say it was her general curiosity and it seemed to work, but deep down she knew there was something else that made Mira seem more interesting to her than other people. June wasn’t even sure if Mira’s aura was positive or negative - if she should like or dislike her - she just knew this girl had something she was curious about. “Hello to you too Mira.” June would find it impolite to not greet back even if it was strange to do that, since they had already started this conversation in a different way. And then her eyes were drawn to Mira’s attire, since Mira’s hands were basically telling her to. She let her eyes move over the the outfit, before looking back up. She was not sure if her eyes moving so openly over Mira’s body was okay or not, so she kept it to a minimum. “Now that you’re saying that, it’s almost obvious, also explains the...breathlessness. My bad.” June bit down on her lip, feeling almost a little dumb for being so inattentive. “Oh, yes, yes. The library gets boring and the weather is cold but nice - also...there are charms to keep you warm. So that is not a problem for me. The bigger problem is carrying all those things around.”

astoriadahl:
The fact that June started rambling, nervously, told Astoria that was she was reading wasn’t something that most people actually read at Hogwarts, and that peaked her interest a lot. But then again, she didn’t want to pry into her personal life, if June didn’t want to share, she didn’t want to share. Still, she caught herself trying to see what the title of the book was, if only to get an idea of what it was that she was reading that was so… Private. “Hey, you don’t have to tell me what it is if you don’t want to, but just so you know… I’m incredibly curious now.” Astoria tried her best not to look at the book, staring out to see the other students roaming about. “It’s a muggle book? Perhaps I’ve read it, I read a lot of muggle books. My grandmother is a muggle, we go to the bookstore a lot when I visit.”
What was the harm in telling Astoria though? Any other person - yeah she wouldn’t tell them for sure, but Astoria wasn’t someone who would make fun of her, would she? The brunette was actually debating on what to do, her fingers tapping the cover of the book nervously and yet quite softly at the same time. A nervous habit. “It’s a muggle book, yes. It’s...” The girl bit onto the insides of her cheek, still thinking of what to say. She was unsure. She was smart, she was hard working, she loved to read and she was usually seen with her nose in a book - she was not sure if she wanted people to know she had a guilty pleasure for trash muggle literature. She was not sure what others would think of her - but did she really care? She somehow did, but maybe it was time to just get rid off such fears. It didn’t change anything after all - she was still the smart and hard working Ravenclaw. “It’s ... uhm ... a story about a girl moving away from home to study, and she moves in with a boy who has some pretty silly rules for her. And well, one of them is that nothing will ever happen between them.” The girl stopped and looked over to Astoria. “I guess it’s quite obvious that it fails.” She shrugged. “It’s cliche and not very well written, but it somehow...relaxes me because I don’t need to think. I can just turn everything off.” She obviously let out the hot scenes which were pretty frequent in the novel.

summerharlowe:
June was a good girl, she stayed out of trouble, she didn’t bother people when they didn’t want to be bothered, she just stayed out of trouble. It was a good thing, it was one less person for Summer to worry about when she was on patrol. “You never do cause trouble, it makes my job very easy.” Summer said with a laugh. But then again, students who caused trouble every now and then were far more interesting, and the Slytherin was already getting bored with the dreary direction the conversation was going. Sighing, Summer looked at June. “You don’t get jokes often? What, too slow to get them?” It was the tiniest bit rude, but that was okay, she didn’t care if she ended up hurting someone’s feelings.
The brunette was somewhat confused if she was being honest. For the last years everything had been pretty much easy for her. She had been just the way her fathers had raised her, she would’ve called herself an actually pretty confident person - she was confident in her knowledge and skill, she knew she was pretty and she had always succeeded to get what she wanted - but things had changed for sure. She was not even sure what had changed, she just knew that she was jumpy and nervous and she was more worried about things than she had ever been. Maybe it was also because there wasn’t much time left until her actual graduation. “That is not because I want to make your guys’ life easy though.” She said after a while then and as Summer went on, even being rude June couldn’t help but shake her head. “More like - I take things seriously. It’s just who I am - just like you are obviously someone who is quite blunt.” For a second she thought about leaving - just going away and leaving Summer alone. There was no point. “And it’s not like you are the queen of jokes, aren’t you?”

“But here’s the thing,” Elliot said, eyeing the proffered drink. “I don’t actually drink? Like, one time Flora invited me to the Three Broomsticks, and she thought I was actually drinking with her the whole night, but – I wasn’t.” Elliot shrugged. “I’m just not keen on it. Personally. I don’t mean to be rude. You can if you – I’ve just seen too many people lose control. Relaxing is good,” he aded, hastily, leaning infinitesimally away as she leaned in. “But like…yeah. I don’t know?”
“And you thing I actually do?” The girl said with arched eyebrows. “I usually don’t either, but there is no problem with a drink, or two. Especially since this is pretty heavily thinned, you won’t even taste it. I can barely taste it.” She said with a soft voice, trying to convince Elliot to try the drink. It was more fun if she wasn’t doing this alone after all. “It’s okay if you don’t want to, really...but it’s not like I want to make you drunk. Just a gulp or two, it can help you relax. Or do you think I am not trustworthy and I’ll make you lose control? Because I would hate if you’d think that.” She had just leaned in so she could speak more quietly, but she could tell he was leaning back a bit, so she sat up normally again, not wanting to push his boundaries.

summerharlowe:
June was one of those people who seemed very insecure about themselves, she seemed like she was perpetually nervous about something or other. Summer’s face remained still like stone for just a second too long before she was grinning. “Relax, Fletcher. You are the very last person I expect to be getting into trouble, or causing trouble.” June was as innocent as could be, after all. “I know this might come as a surprise to you, but I do know how to make a joke, and that was one of them.”
The fact that Summer was calming her down made June relax a bit. On the other hand she was asking herself if that was something everyone thought - that she was one to never cause trouble. Of course that was not her thing - trouble - but she somehow didn’t like the idea of people believing she was simply calm and innocent and never up to something. It was strange to think like that for sure, but June couldn’t help to think that way as Summer spoke like this to her. “Well that is relieving, I don’t like causing trouble.” She said after a moment of thinking. “Mh, and I am not sure if it surprises me that much - the thing is I usually don’t get jokes all too often one way or another. So even if you’d make them on a daily basis, I would probably not get them and take things seriously.” It was really a problem of hers - she often misunderstood jokes, irony and also sarcasm. It made things awkward at times but she had come to terms with simply not getting it.

theo-the-third:
The last and smallest classroom at the end of the main hallway, by a witches of Salem old tapestry, an olden oak door just like every other in the castle, giving way into a small classroom that at its best would have twenty people comfortably, windows looking into the lake side. That’s the classroom Professor Benson had given Theodore permit to use for tutoring - through all of the year he normally helped the people who sought him in the library but as O.W.L.s and N.O.M.s enclosed, Theo was helping an alarming number of people in cramming content and practicing the requested content.
The small room was a mess of piles and piles of books, pillows for practicing, one target dummy, various random small objects and one desk pushed to the corner had an assortment of food that was there brought either by the castle elves or the students themselves. Theo had also permission to stay after curfew if he was teaching or studying himself but honestly he had no idea what time of the day it was anymore since his pocket watch had been targeted by a missing stupifying hex. He’s sitting by one of the windows, lit cigarette on his lips and the moment he hears someone steps in by the threshold he doesn’t look up from the book in his hands. “Come on in, I think there’s still a couple hours.”
Curiosity was probably her worst trait. She knew that her curiosity could definitely get her into trouble easily. And it actually had a few times in her life already and yet she never learned. So when she was walking around the castle, actually just on her way back to the Ravenclaw Tower she passed a room which she noticed wasn’t empty. She had heard that Theo was tutoring somewhere in the castle but she had never came by or asked where this was happening since she never needed help with her studies. Why would she ask then? But as she stepped into the room - just a little - she realized that it had to be this room. She looked around a little before her eyes landed on the boy, who was sitting there, book in his hand and a cigarette between his lips. She furrowed her eyebrows just for a tiny second. “Couple of hours for what exactly?” The girl asked genuinely curious. For tutoring? For studying? Until he would simply leave? “Also...aren’t you afraid to...well drop some of the ash on the book, I would actually freak out if I was you.”

“I’m not going to try that!” Elliot said, scrunching up his nose. “Because when you do it, it looks cool. But I know if I tried, it’d be like – like a troll trying for Witch Weekly’s Most Charming Smile Award. And anyway, I just finished with classes, and there’s no practice. I was thinking about just – going to bed. I’m tired.”
The girl tilted her head to the side a little and then chuckled a bit. She usually wasn’t the type of person to do something of that sort, but hey there was a first time for everything. “Oh come on, you have to live a little - and that is coming from me.” June insisted and leaned in a little. “There is not much in it, you won’t feel completely drunk and out of it...I promise. It will actually help you to relax, believe me.”

She’s been running laps around the castle as soon as classes ended - it was one of those days where no amount of willpower could make her brain focus, so burning it out was best. The good thing about spring and consequently summer was that the days got a little longer so she could run a little more before curfew. Spotting someone crossing the path she slowed down to a jog. “Everything alright?”

Since the weather was getting better the girl tried to study outside more for sure. She had been spending her free time on the school grounds, surrounded by her books and notes - like she would usually do in the library, but now she was feeling cold and tired and she definitely needed a hot shower. She didn’t even notice how she made someone slow down in their run. She turned her face around as this person came closer and talked to her. She furrowed her brows. “Uhm, yes, why wouldn’t I be? Are you? You look...a bit out of breath.” Since June didn’t notice Mira running, she obviously wasn’t aware that this was the reason she was out of breath.

June was an incredibly nice girl, she was kind, and very easy to talk to, which was probably why Astoria felt so comfortable walking up to her and starting a conversation. She usually didn’t do that unless she felt comfortable around someone. Tori glanced down at the book that June was holding, smiling, and then she took a seat. “What have you got there? Anything fun? Something you can recommend for me to read?” She didn’t know what book it was, but she did enjoy reading, and she was always up for new recommendations, whether it be a muggle book or something published in the wizarding world.
Astoria was one of the girls June genuinely liked. She had no idea what it was but June actually never failed strange around the other girl and she often felt strange around other people. She was not socially anxious, no, but she usually felt like most people lacked something that was actually intriguing her. It was a strange thing to describe for sure. Astoria sat down next to her and June turned around to her a bit more and then it happened - Astoria pointed at the book in her lap and asked about it. June usually didn’t get all flustered, but this time she actually even felt her cheeks warm up and blush a little. “I uhm...it’s nothing all too exciting. It’s just some muggle novel. Not even a really good one, but uhm...I always give things a chance, even if I am already feeling like it won’t be my thing. It’s...yeah...not that great really. Nothing I would recommend.” Great, June thought to herself, now this was definitely awkward and Astoria would probably think she was bonkers. But she really didn’t want to admit she was reading some cheesy love triangle with pretty heavy sex scenes in it and a plot that was probably even too detailed for a porn movie.

“Hey, ya little brat, I’m watching you!” Summer called out as a third year Gryffindor ran giggling away from her, she had caught him just as he was about to set off a box of firecrackers, and now she was making funny gestures to make him laugh as he ran away. Turning around, she made the same gesture at the person standing there. “And now I’m watching you. You up to something terrible too?” It was rare that she felt as giddy and happy as she was now, she was even grinning.
The behavior of several people around the castle was definitely strange. Well stranger than usual. Or maybe it was just June’s mind playing tricks on her, but watching the Slytherin running after a much younger Gryffindor - well that was a sight to see. It had actually made her stop in her tracks. She looked over to the other girl as she turned around to her after a while and June raised an eyebrow, almost surprised. “Uhm...” June brought out perfectly eloquent...just like always. Since when were words coming so difficult to her? “That depends on what you’d consider terrible I think.”
