The winning bidder for this auction will receive a custom-made embroidery work featuring one or two Marvel characters. I specifically stitch from official Marvel comics. (Please see embroid-away.tumblr.com/tagged/comics for examples!) The winner will choose their favorite comic cover or comic panel to have embroidered onto one bamboo hoop, up to 8" in diameter. I am happy to help search for comics with specific characters or scenes. If the winner wants two characters, the reference itself will need to include both characters. I incorporate embroidery floss, watercolors, and even fabric to recreate the comic as accurately as possible with textiles. An embroidery project takes me a minimum of two months to complete. I will be able to start this work in late December or early in 2019, and I will remain in contact with the winner during the process.

Work Description:

I predominately do spelling/grammar checks and some work with continuity (scene pacing/character actions/dialogue). I tend to provide commentary on everything I notice regardless of how minor it is and let the author decide which changes to accept. I never intend to be harsh and will never be upset/annoyed/any negative reaction to an author choosing not to use any of my suggestions. That being said, I frequently return works covered in comments/suggestions and so I am probably not the right beta for you if you primarily need encouragement/pointing out things that worked well (though I always do, with enthusiasm!). I am only here to support you and help your work grow, and would feel horrible if instead my beta style would hurt your confidence and joy in writing. As a beta, I am open to almost anything. I want to provide the services YOU need, so please contact me if you want to make sure my abilities mesh with your needs. For example, I will happily beta non-MCU fics but won’t be able to help with whether characters are OOC for that universe; I am open to most pairings but may not have enough in-depth knowledge about the characters to weigh in on whether the relationship feels natural. Generally, I should be able to return comments on chapters within 1-2 weeks. I am starting a new job but will, the majority of the time, end up with more free time outside of work since I am no longer in school. If you intend to have a regular posting schedule, it would be best plan to keep me at least one chapter ahead in case something comes up at work. I will keep you appraised of planned breaks in my availability as much as possible. I’ve never actually done beta work for commission, so I don’t feel comfortable assigning a dollar amount per word count; please bid what you are comfortable with.

I only know MCU and have read some of Fraction’s Hawkeye run, so I won’t write for other universes. I am happy to write poly relationships upon request as long as they include Steve Rogers and if you run it by me first. I’m open to most anything, but I don’t want you to be disappointed so it’s best if you contact me to make sure our needs line up! Historically I am terrible at sticking to any sort of timeline, so I won’t make any promises as to when a commission would be completed. I cannot *commit* to fics longer than 5k, but will keep writing on your prompt as long as my muse allows. If you have an ideal minimum word count, PLEASE contact me first so I can make sure I am likely meet it with your prompt. My main goal is to make sure you are not disappointed! I enjoy feedback on my work and would be happy to share drafts with you. I will do my best to continue to shape my fic based on your thoughts about the drafts, though I do reserve the final say as long as it holds to your original prompt. I enjoy a collaborative process and want to make sure you are pleased with the end result, whether that is back-and-forth fleshing out ideas or the fic only published once complete or something in-between. As I’ve only ever done commissions for free, I do not feel comfortable assigning a minimum dollar amount for word counts so please donate what you are comfortable with, though obviously if you want a longer fic I would prefer a higher donation.
