I’ll just say, if my coworkers ditched for a day and probably left me with more of a workload (because I need money, damn it), I would be absolutely livid at them. Also, "striking" isn't "take a day off of work". Most jobs have paid days off. And if you just don't show up no employer will accept "Sorry Bob, I was striking yesterday to protest capitalism. You know, the economic system that says you need to pay me for my work." as an excuse for missing work. And neither will the legal system, since again, taking a day off isn't a strike. I hope they try it. A bet a lot of them are going to be very Shocked Pikachu when they're asked to continue not showing up and also stop getting paid.

All of these anti immigration people are proving your point by acting like there’s some kind of inherent difference between “citizens” and “foreigners.” Why are immigrants a “shackle” upon the population, and not citizens? If the problem was actually that a country’s infrastructure can only support so many people (which isn’t true, obviously, infrastructure scales), why is the default presumption that we should deport and torture specifically immigrants for the good of the country, instead of just having a blind draft where we kidnap 12 million random people and evict them? The specific targeting of immigrants is only coherent if you believe that “being a citizen” should grant special legal privileges over non-citizens.

yes, sadly everyone does believe that: citizens are presumed innocent until proven guilty, foreigners are presumed guilty until they can prove their bona fides and can be kicked out at any time for essentially any reason, often at the personal discretion of an official.

That still doesn't invalidate the fact that they were victims. That still doesn't invalidate the abuse they endured. Multiple things can be true at once.
