And I know a lot of social media’s response to this will be to call women stupid bitch Karens for being married to Trump voters in the first place, because the internet hates women, but think about how misogynistic Republican men are, and how violent/threatening they are. Think of the Republican men who went to 1/6, and the ones who show up to rallies with rifles. Think of how many Republicans are cops, and the amount of cops who are domestic abusers. Do you really think Republican men are not dangerous to the women and children in their lives?

It should go without saying, but if you’re afraid of your partner finding out who you voted for, you need to get out of that relationship. That’s easier said than done, though, so in the meantime, know that who you actually vote for is not public information. Your voter registration information is public, meaning the fact that you’re registered, what party you’re affiliated with, and that you voted. But no one knows who you voted for in a given election, and you do not need to vote for the party you’re affiliated with in a general election. It’s possible to be a registered Republican and vote for Democrats.

Okay, so the June Rebellion in Les Mis was in 1832 and the book was written in 1862. At that time, I believe doctors knew about the dangers of infected wounds (see: Florence Nightingale's whole deal) but maybe not all doctors? maybe not quite yet at this time -- maybe it was later? Maybe the knowledge didn't spread as fast as I thought, or they just didn't trust this new innovation, because I'm pretty sure that was how Garfield (who was elected in 1880) was killed -- he got shot and was fine with the bullet in his abdomen, but the doctors who decided to remove the bullet didn't wash their hands and so infected his wound, which killed him three months later. So maybe not all doctors knew about infection in 1862, so Victor Hugo who wasn't a doctor most likely didn't know about it either, so I understand why this occurred.

But EVERY SINGLE TIME I think about Valjean dragging a wounded Marius through the sewer a little part of me dies. Just, like, he has an OPEN WOUND and you are DRAGGING HIM THROUGH THE SEWER?!?!?! Do you know NOTHING about possible infections? Sepsis?? NOTHING??? I can only imagine how filthy and disgusting and full of germs the sewers of 1832 Paris were. This is a guaranteed recipe for disaster -- a recipe for DEATH. He might have been fine with just the bullet wound, but dragging him THROUGH THE SEWER would kill him for sure. This was the stupidest decision anybody in this book could possibly have made and I will never understand how he survived.
