Everyone has a favorite octokitten, they just hate admitting it. Tim and Marius because having favorites would be rude, Jonnys too embarrassed to admit it, Raph doesn't mind sharing but no one asks, Ivys is based on statistics, Nastya and Aurora have two that are "literally them" (Aurora's idea) Ashes likes the one that looks the coolest and Brian is an octokitten magnet on accident (But Brian probably geniunly loves them all equally)

⚙️ jonny and brian but their dynamic?? one who lost his heart and one who lost everything but— they complete eachother in a way no one else on the ship can.

⚙️ theyre not known to get along. jonnys not known to really get along with anyone. but still brian is always there when he needs it. its like he can feel it, all his rage, all his despair. it makes his hands itch for a trigger.

⚙️ maintenance on their mechanisms is hard. especially for jonny, he hates being vulnerable and his mech is such a sensitive subject. he hates being laid out on a operating table, hates raphaella looking down at him. he knows she isnt judging him, not right now. not like this. his heart needs a lot of maintenance, he learns, too much maintenance for anyone on the crews liking.

brian too. brian needs a lot of maintenance too. brian has so much that can be wrong with his body. it makes jonny feel less alone. less scared under raphs gaze, he wont ever admit that though. its more comfortable knowing brian is in this room just as much as him.
