As protests against injustice in legal system, discrimination, police brutality spread through the US, it is necessary to educate yourself about these issues.

Hey, I could use some help.
The past several months have been pretty godawful and terrible for everyone, and they’ve especially fucked up my situation. Back in November of 2016 I was mugged and shot, and the aftermath of that has left me pretty emotionally shattered and suffering from severe depression making it extremely difficult to work. I am in the midst of applying for disability benefits, but the pandemic caused my hearing date for my second stage appeal to be postponed from May all the way into August. And all my backup resources ran out in May, so now I am facing down a couple of really scary months.
Right now I am not doing super great. The increased isolation from social distancing, a couple of sudden and devastating personal losses this past month, in addition to all the… everything else happening in the world, I’ve been left kinda… it’s difficult to function. It’s hard for me to even get out of bed in the afternoon, and essential tasks that need to be done take me… sometimes days to get around to. It’s taken me a week to build up the nerve to even make this post, and two weeks to simply sign a piece of paper that says “Yes I will be availible and present at the time of my Disability Hearing”. I am on meds, and I do have a psyciatrist and a therapist I see regularly (though granted it’s been over the phone the past couple of months) so I do have some support in that capacity, but right now it just seems enough to keep me drifitng.
Right now I am facing down a hefty power bill, with rent coming up in a week. I’ve applied for some additional government support, but government moves slow and the nightmare system we live in doesn’t give a fuck if you’re working on it and will cut you off from basic human rights in a heartbeat.
I absolutely hate having to do this, as I’m sure everyone who has to write up one of these posts hates doing it, but, any support you are willing to give would be very greatly appreciated.
