Today in Gion Kobu: Erikae of Geiko Mameryū from the Tama Okiya!

This is the day I, and many others, have been waiting for ever since Mameryū made her debut 3 years and 8 months ago, Mameryū has finally turned her collar! Mameryū actually had a shorter Maiko-period, most girls are a Maiko for at least 4 years, but Mameryū did not only have the necessary skills, her looks and demeanor have always been so mature that she was promoted to a Geiko a bit earlier.

As I’ve mentioned before, Mameryū worse some of Tama’s oldest and most valuable pieces during her sakkou period, which really shows how much value and trust Tama’s okaasan places on her, and her continuing success as a Geiko. Mameryū is the first imouto of Geiko Mamechizu to have her Erikae, and the first member of Tama’s Mame-line to have her Erikae in 6 years.

Mameryū really has a made a name for herself, especially over the last two years, and she has been on the highest earners list for the last two years as well, and I have no doubt that she will be on it next time. Mameryū really looks like she was born to become a Geiko!

Mameryū happened to have her Erikae on the same day as her friend Shino (Fukushima Okiya), and they did part of their rounds together!
