A Circumstance has changed for the worse through no fault of anyone involved, and I am about to TRY to get a fat and skrunkly old man cat out of the Jeebers/Winstonova situation. If they turn him over I'll have to foot the bill and get him homed on my own.

Please please reassure me I'm not making a huge mistake. I can't afford this, but if not me, who? I can't save every kitty and have no desire to burn myself out or run myself out of money so that I am worse than broke 100% of the time but I also can't watch this happen right in front of me. I've tried ignoring it. I can't do it.

Discworld inktober day 22 - Esmerelda Weatherwax

Granny Weatherwax was the strongest witch in the Discworld books. When Sir Terry Pratchett found out he was dying, he needed to say goodbye to his fans. He did that through the passing of the beloved character of Granny Weatherwax in “The Shepherd’s Crown”

Even though when he was already gone when I started reading the discworld books, it was still very heartbreaking. She also kept bees as part of her specialty and after she passed, her protégé had to tell the bees. I’ve always felt like us the readers were Sir Terry’s bees.

Discworld inktober day 9 - Offler, the Crocodile God

Ive never been the biggest fan of Offlers previous designs.

I have always imagined Offler as a chonky guy because one of the common offerings made to him at the temples were sausages. Heres my version of Offler, the Crocodile God.

“He, of course, eats the spirit of the sausages. We eat the mere earthly shell.”

I’m really having a good time doing discworld inktober. If all of you are having a great time watching me make silly drawings of our favorite weird story full of puns, and are feeling generous, tip’s would be greatly appreciated.

People against piracy fail to realize that no, I can’t just ‘buy it.’ They stopped making DVDs and Blu-Rays. They’re barely offering digital copies for download. I am not spending money I could use for food or bills to pay for a subscription service just so I can always have access to a beloved piece of media. Especially not when the service will remove media on a whim without concern for how the loss of access to that piece will make its artistic conservation nigh impossible.

For example, I recently learned that Disney+ had an original film called Crater. It’s scifi, family friendly, and seems cool - I would love to buy it as a holiday gift for my little brother! But: it’s exclusive to D+ and THEY REMOVED IT LITERALLY MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE.

The ONLY way I can directly access this film is through piracy. The ONLY available ‘copies’ of this film are hosted on piracy websites. Disney will NEVER release it in theaters, or as something to buy, and it may NEVER return to the streaming service. It will be LOST because we aren’t allowed to purchase it for personal viewing. If I can’t pay to own it, I won’t pay for the privilege of losing it when corporate decides to put it in a vault.

So yes, I’m going to pirate and support piracy.

As a kid I deeply wanted to live in a wizard’s study like the ones from Sword in the Stone and the Wizardology books, and the older I get the more I realize that A) I’ve more or less achieved this, and B) most of the things in my room came from gifts.

My grandfather gave me a marten skull. My mom gave me an incense burner in the shape of a cauldron. My grandmother gave me a shrieking red-eyed goat mask with real goat horns she smuggled out of Mexico. My sister gave me a plush raven. At this point I fully believe that wizards like the ones in Sword in the Stone and the Wizardology books never bought a thing. It’s all gifts
