Undead Unluck Manga Review
Tumblr media
Genre: Dark fantasy, Action, Romance
Published: January 6th , 2020
Synopsis: Undead Unluck is a manga about a girl named Fuuko Izumo Who's powers brings unlucky happenings to whoever she touches. When Fuuko attempts taking her life, she is kidnapped by Undead, a being who cannot die and can regenerate from any injury. They go on a wacky quest to find the greatest death. Review: Undead unluck manages to mesh comedy, action, romance and supernatural together so well, it is one of the most absurd stories and premise I've ever seen but it very rarely falls flat with its execution. The magic/power system in this story is one of the best I've seen from a lot of Shonen series and it really takes it time with establishing these characters and make you feel for them , and i mean, every single one of them. There is not a single character in this story that doesn't get at least a little amount of shine, really making you feel for their found family bond.

Everything is Fine Webcomic Review:
Tumblr media
Genre: Thriller, Horror, Mystery
Published: May 2016, 2023
Synopsis: This story follows a couple (Same and Maggie) that live in a strange town where everyone wears cat mask on their heads. The town seemingly functions as a normal town in society however something if off about the town. Sometimes the couple encounters strangers things that force them to question who they are and why exactly they are there in the first place. Review: I usually don't read webtoons or webcomics but this story really resonated with me. Not only does it handle horror, mystery and thriller elements well but it also established good story beats and builds on the world in such a fascinating way that keeps you thoroughly engaged. There is a twist at the end of almost every act in this story and I assure you each one is significantly better than the last. If you're looking for a story that will constantly have you on the edge of your times in suspense then this story will most defintely be worth every ounce of your time.

DANDADAN Manga Review:
Tumblr media
Mangaka: Yukinobu Tatsu
Genre: Comedy, Shonen, action
Published: April 6th, 2021
Synopsis: The series follows the story of two schoolmates with different beliefs regarding the existence of two types of supernatural beings. However, they end up proving each other correct, trying to return their lives. Review: Dandadan is truly a special series that dabbles into comedy, action and the supernatural all in one and makes it works all too well , more than twice per chapter I find myself physically laughing out loud at a joke, it's genuinely hilarious with its shifts in tone and dialogue. The paneling is also amazing as well and almost pop out the page, very vibrant and lively inking and linework to boot. Many Manga will have 2 characters in frame talking to each other with distinct expressions so they can exchange dialogue, this series instead shows the scene, implying the tone or setting while having fun/caricature bubble heads of the characters exchanging text so you can stay in the scene but still experience the characters core emotions and tone.

Jujutsu Kaisen Manga Review
Mangaka: Gege Akutami
Tumblr media
Genre: Comedy, Shonen, action
Published: March 2018
Synopsis: The story of a boy named Yuji Itadori who find a cursed object in the shape of a finger that changes his life forever, for this finger belongs to king of curses Sukuna. Yuji goes on a journey to collect all of sukuna's fingers and eventually put an end to cursed society. Review: This story at first had a very simple premise but slowly evolved into much more, even though many may say the ending is much to be desired the journey getting there is a real ride, the lore, worldbuilding and plot are more than enough to reel the reader in , it's sense of slight grunge horror base intrigue also plays a roll into its appeal. The story really delves deep into the psyche of these characters as well, not as linear as many would think that keeps the readers invested into almost each characters journey. The Choreography and art of this series is just the icing on the cake

NANA Manga review!
Tumblr media
Mangaka: Ai Yazawa
Genre: Drama, Romance, Music
Published: September 5th , 2003
Synopsis: Two girls coincidentally named Nana cross paths when they both move to Tokyo - Nana O. who wants to pursue a music career with her band and Nana K. to join her friends and move in with her boyfriend. Despite having different personalities and ambitions, the two women find commonalities with each other and, by coincidence, move into the same apartment. Although, as they follow their dreams, troubles of fame and love begin to test and waver the fabric of their friendship. Review: This is a story about the human condition. How hard it is to live in a world as a woman, a story about forming bonds and growing relationships as these two navigate their way through adulthood and pursing their passions, this series can tackle series tops in regarding to issues SA or addition, but the topics in my opinion are handled very well. They allow for the reader to form an understanding of the issue without being insensitive. The series overall is very dramatic in it's delivery but it's not too over the top or lingers on for too long for it to be a detriment of the story. These characters truly feel like existing people that grow and develop as the story goes on. For better or for worse.

PLUTO Manga Review:
Tumblr media
Mangaka: Naoki Urasawa
Genre: Science Fiction/Adult drama
Published: September 5th , 2003
Synopsis: The story of pluto follows a cyborg detective on a case to find out who is murdering humans and robots alike in a world where society has normalized the usage and existence of machine. Review: Taking place in the same Universe as popular classics anime/manga series Astro boy, one would assume that this series would not be as serious in tone as it is, but PLUTO really hits you with its tonal consistency, it explores themes of existence and life, how sentience plays a role in giving us meaning as humans and more, the mystery in the series is also handled perfectly, as a detective series that's partly to be expected. The anime adaptation really nails the atmosphere with it's sound track /score, but the way the art is drawn in the manga really breathes live into the reader, the pages almost seem errily realistic.

Uzumaki Manga Review
Tumblr media
Mangaka: Junji Ito
Genre: Horror
Published: January 19th, 1998 Synopsis: Uzumaki a short horror story about a small town that slowly becomes obsessed with 'Uzumaki' , or spirals. Horror ensues as the town slowly descends into madness as they try to unveil the secrets of the spiral
Review: Despite the anime adaptation being rather disappointing, the original work for Junji Ito's Uzumaki is quite stellar. Junji Ito's work really makes your skin crawl with feelings that you didn't know could be felt. His art in and of itself is creepy but Ito manages to give every single panel he creates a certain atmosphere around it making the build up to to the mystery of the spirals and everything strange going on in the town even more rewarding.

Kagurabachi Manga Review

Genre: Fiction/shonen

However, one day tragedy fell onto the Rokuhira Family resulting in the Untimely demise of his father. Chihiro is now on a quest to avenge is father. Review: Kagurabachi first and foremost grabs the readers attention with it's stunning art and composition, manga usually reads in black and white but looking at the pages the usage of ink really oozes in vibrancy into every panel. Not only is the art stunning but the story itself is also nothing to sneeze at, taking the troupes that make shonen great and utilizing it to it's fullest potential, It tells a tale of a boy saddened with revenge but allows him to be human, it allows him to recognize his faults as well as the worth in others. What was once cold hearted guy at first glance, peels back a soft sweet underbelly that shows real compassion and deep care for his new found family.
