well, i did it - @cobalts-dbh-multiverse is now active, though it doesn't have a whole lot up just yet - i've reblogged anything i already had on this blog, and i'll be making a pinned bost with the basic AU details and their tags... probably tomorrow, cause i'm tired, but we'll see.
so, any posting for my d:bh fics will now be done over on that sideblog :] here's to (hopefully) some interesting loredumps, discussion, and maybe some askbloggery in the future if i can wrangle my brain into that shape.
considering making a sideblog to collect all my d:bh universes' stuff together and to have askblog ability (thinking face) considering how in-depth i'd love to go talking about cerberus protocol and PENITENCE in particular, damn that universe already has so much background lore i've yet to reveal because i'm only working on the first full chapter right now...

dispossession (1856 words) by Cobalt___Blue Chapters: 1/? Fandom: Detroit: Become Human (Video Game) Rating: Mature Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence, Major Character Death Relationships: Connor & RK800 "Connor" Android(s) (Detroit: Become Human), Hank Anderson & Connor Characters: Connor (Detroit: Become Human), RK800 "Connor" Android(s) (Detroit: Become Human), RK900 Android(s) (Detroit: Become Human), Hank Anderson, YK500 Android(s) (Detroit: Become Human), CyberLife Employees (Detroit: Become Human) Series: Part 1 of Penitence, Part 1 of Penitence Universe: Origin Summary: On Tuesday November 9th, 2038 – the day after Markus RK200 broadcasts his message for peace and equality, the day after Cyberlife’s RK800 fails its mission in Stratford Tower at the wrong end of a hail of bullets – Belle Isle goes off the grid. Security in place, calls left to ring, silent employees following the slow trickle of people that begin to leave the city as the days pass; no one has answers – not the FBI, not the DPD, not even Jericho. And every day, deviants become harder to catch, harder to find. Wednesday the 10th was when the whispers began, after all. If you can’t find Jericho – if you’re running out of time, if you’re dead on your feet, if there’s a human sympathiser with you or too big a group to move safely – get to a Crossing Place by sunset. The Penitents will find you. They’ll take you to the Haven. (RK800-51 dies a machine.) (Connor RK800-52 wakes up screaming.)
Well, guess what, I'm double-universing it up on DBH fics now because Scenarios like to grab me by the brainstem and give a good shake!
This one's a proper canon divergence, unrelated to Cerberus Protocol, so I'll be happily juggling the two universes as the inspiration leads me around. :> Enjoy!

I've given the prologue some editing and improved it because i was CLEARLY half-asleep when I wrote some of it, and it should be a whole lot better now even if it wasn't too bad before. :] I'm also working on Chapter One right now, so hopefully I'll finish that soon.
what i tell you three times is true (1780 words) by Cobalt___Blue Chapters: 1/? Fandom: Detroit: Become Human (Video Game) Rating: Mature Warnings: Graphic Depictions Of Violence Series: Part 1 of Cerberus Protocol Summary: They’re not getting out of this. Connor and Lux, he means. Nines, if the DPD gets here in adequate time, has a 35% chance of survival given his tougher chassis and improved crisis survival programming. [ NINES RK900-87 || Lux? ] [ POLLUX RK800-60 || s c a r e d ] Connor’s end of the link is nothing but garbled noises and static; limbs awkwardly angled and horribly still where his crumpled form lies a little way out of Nines’ reach, his LED just a faint red pulse in the shadow that falls across his face. Thirium puddles from beneath the shattered plates of his skull, pooling together in an oil-slick shine and no doubt staining the white of his exposed chassis. Nines re-evaluates Connor’s chance of survival to 4%. --------- When a rare night out transforms into a nightmare, two out of three Anderson androids may not have time for rescue to arrive. Nines makes an executive decision to activate a program they thought they’d never have to use. =====
Recently rewatched @octopunkmedia's wonderful Detroit fanfilms.
I then thought of a random cool phrase and my brain kicked into overdrive thinking about androids. Then this happened and I wrote the beginning of a mixed canon/octopunkverse/slightly-AU AU focused on our beloved RK brothers, and while it's set after the pacifist best ending it sure contains a hell of a lot of whump even just in the prologue. It's also the fastest I've managed to write a full fic chapter since probably about 2021.
I have no regrets.
Enjoy.

Cerberus Protocol: Anderson Brothers
Thought it might be fun to show off some picrews I made of the Cerberus Protocol boys and talk a bit about how I view them and their differences from canon/each other. (picrew used)
Putting it under a cut, because this is going to get to ramble territory as always:
Connor (RK800-52)
Took a primarily "Deviant Path" through the events of the revolution - biggest setback was one "death" when attacked by the android at Stratford Tower, bringing him an iteration forward.
While he's had more time to adjust to deviancy than either of his brothers, he still struggles with it sporadically, especially when things remind him of Amanda or his escape from the frozen Zen Garden. (He particularly dislikes low winter temperatures and will tend to stick closer to any available family members when there's a blizzard forecast.)
Though Connor still has his original social adaptation programming sitting around in his processor, he's more introverted than he was pre-deviancy now that his programming isn't essentially forcing him to consistently interact with people to blend in. Despite this, he's still made a decent handful of friends since then, both android and human, has reached a surprising level of sass, and rA9 FORBID you piss him off because you are in for the most scathing commentary of your life.
Rehired at the DPD after the passing of the Sentient Rights Act as a junior detective, working primarily alongside Hank to solve cases related to inter-species violence and underground android trafficking.
Has thankfully not picked up on Hank's taste in clothing, even if he has picked up on his taste in music.
As of the events of Cerberus Protocol, has not removed his LED. It doesn't bother him much either way, and he finds it useful in reassuring other androids when working cases.
Has recently started keeping tropical fish - he finds watching them a good way to decompress and finds the effort of keeping something alive a good reminder that he's more than Cyberlife built him to be.
Is pretty protective of his brothers as a rule, taking his place as their default oldest very seriously - though it does wear on him that he can't always be there to look out for them, particularly after Nines' near miss during the events of Detroit Evolution.
Pollux "Lux" (RK800-60)
Found in a stasis state by Jericho and the DPD's android division after the passing of the Sentient Rights Act when Cyberlife was given the biggest search warrant in history. He was reactivated by Connor and deviated coming out of stasis.
While his self-repair had taken care of most of the damage from the gunshot to his head, it was unable to repair the injury properly; this has left him with various small processing issues, simulated scarring, and a damaged ocular unit. It also damaged his LED to the point where it was nonfunctional, and he's since had it removed.
He does have some scattered memories of his brief activation as a machine, but they're not much and he had to rely on Connor's interfaced memories of the events on Belle Isle to understand why he ended up there. Most of the pre-revolution memories he does have are from RK800-51, with some of Connor's memories as well. It's still taking him some time to sort through which are really his and which were given to him by Cyberlife.
While he doesn't blame Hank for having to take the shot - and has been completely forgiven by both Hank and Connor for what happened while he was still a machine - Lux is still on his own journey to forgiving himself. Logically, he understands that he had no actual control over his actions; but his new emotions are not always logical.
Hired at the DPD as a data analyst and white-hat, supporting the Inter-species Violence, Homicide, and Trafficking divisions.
Likes plants for much the same reasons as to why Connor likes fish; if he's not in his garden at home during his free time there's a good chance he's gone to New Jericho to check out the progress on the gardens and greenhouses there and hang out with Josh and Simon.
Doesn't like to go into standby (sleep mode) alone and usually ends up tucked in with Sumo or one of his brothers until he's out.
Likes to experiment with his hair, and has worn several different styles since his reactivation.
Unlike his brothers, has in fact picked up on Hank's taste in clothing. Just a little.
Nines (RK900-87)
Also found during the search of Cyberlife, reactivated and deviated thanks to Markus.
Took by far the longest to come to terms with deviancy, given all the programming he previously had in place that was actively supposed to prevent it. While living and working alongside his brothers was a significant amount of help in this regard, it was his interactions with humans like Hank and his new station partner Gavin Reed that had the most impact in the long run.
Also works at the DPD after the passing of the Act, assigned as Det. Reed's partner in the Homicide division.
As of the events of Cerberus Protocol, has not removed his LED, but he's given it some thought already.
While he is still the most mentally structured and outwardly rigid of his brothers, he has relaxed significantly after the events of Detroit Evolution and continues to get used to daily life with the help of his partner and family.
Quite enjoys cooking both human and android food, particularly likes the satisfaction that comes from successfully replicating a recipe or creating a new one that has a good result. Will not share the recipe for his coveted thirium choc-chip cookies as it is a surefire way to bribe his siblings.
Has no concrete memories prior to his activation and deviation; there are a few spotty images of Cyberlife's testing facilities, but not much else. Everything he knows about his origins was learned from the company's servers.
Still struggles with outwardly expressing his emotions sometimes, although he's come a long way since activation.
Despite his demeanor, is actually quite touch-starved and very prone to going boneless when offered a hug. Will sometimes get dragged into a pile with his brothers and manoeuvred into the middle to get held.
Has recently struck up an odd friendship with North that seems to be mostly based on sarcasm and competitiveness, but also seems to be doing the both of them some good nevertheless.

idk man, i just wanna write a fic that someone reads obsessively at 3am. a fic that someone loses sleep to finish because just one more chapter and tries to give multiple kudos. a fic that people will leave a comment on every chapter. i want to write a fic that people will recommend to others, that they think nails the characterization and relationship dynamic. i want to write someone’s comfort fic, someone’s favorite fic, or someone’s fic they read when they want to re-read something. i want to be that fic writer. i want to write that fic.
