You inspired me to make my own in-character blog, and I want to let you know that you are an amazing person and if any one tells you otherwise then they are dead wrong.

Anyways, fan-embying aside, got any GHS headcanons to spare?

I'm so happy to have inspired you! Your art is really cute, and I look forward to seeing more from you. <3 The best feeling creatively is knowing that you've managed to help others reach the same potential! I hope you get to experience that sometime as well, because you very much deserve to.

As for headcanons, I think my most interesting one is that people who are fully sane view the residents as normal people. The long term residents are fully able to leave the house and go about their day in the real world (such as in the GHS: Another World manga), but they only appear as we, the viewers, see them, if they are either former residents, or having their own mental breakdowns. However, they also have their own, more extended world, with one foot in the realm of the dead, so to speak. This is what we see in the Volume 3 of the anime with the Last Train, and to a lesser extent in volume 4 with the hospital.

However, I think they also have some crossover with the animals and objects that personify them. For instance, Gregory can take the shape of a normal rat, as implied in the GHS Gallery Tour.

i feel like we dont talk enough about how distressing and disturbing memory loss issues are. forgetting what you were talking about halfway through a sentence, putting something down and instantly forgetting where you put it. having to reread one paragraph over and over again because by the time youve moved onto the next sentence you dont remember what the one before it said. always doubting if your memories of things are real, not being able to remember important life events.

its so incredibly scary, it feels like your mind is constantly playing tricks on you and you start to doubt whats real and what isnt.

“i forgot” is treated like a lazy excuse when it’s genuinely such a big issue for so many people.

She's a yokai called a karakasa, or kasa-obake, which...doesn't have a lot of actual mythology behind it! What we do know is that these yokai appeared in "monster of the week" style stories in the Edo period, under pressure to create creatures the audience hadn't seen before.

It is speculated that karakasa are a type of tsukumogami. Tsukumogami are inanimate objects that become host to spirits after (usually) 100 years. The spirits can be good, bad or anything in between, but it is considered best to throw out objects before they are 100 years old, just in case.

on many of the old GHS websites, it mentions how Mummy Papa can switch dispositions “resulting in a Jekyll and Hyde personality” when the sword in his head shifts. we’ve never seen his separate personality in the show or game, but i’ve had this strange little headcanon that i’m bad at putting into words.

when his sword shifts, i wouldn’t think he exaclty becomes aggressive or angry, but he sort of feeds into Mummy Dog and Mummy Mama’s ailments, unknowingly making them worse. He feeds plant food to the flower on Mummy Mama’s head, or puts arsenic in Mummy Dog’s meals (as if Chef doesn’t put enough already). it’s almost similar to munchausen syndrome by proxy; it’s said Mummy Papa loves to brag about his ailments, so what more does he want than to brag about the ailments of the rest of his family?

while the Mummy Family cannot die, they can certainly feel worse or better depending on the circumstances of actually treating their symptoms, and he’s unaware of all of this once his sword shifts back
