I haven't seen much of Spike, I'm early in the second season, but it's very funny that they established that vampires without souls are irremediable demon and then went "This is Spike. He's killed two Slayers. He's The Worst. He kills everyone without discrimination. His two main character trait are being a little (evil) goofy and being utterly devoted to his girlfriend."
