Obviously it's not a healthy or 'proper' response but a local artist I've followed is pregnant and having a child soon and its made me.... I'm not sure the right word?
I think having a child right now is incredibly irresponsible and cruel I guess? But I also know people don't always plan for children and it's also NONE of my business?
I'm just baffled that anyone woukd want to subject themselves to a dangerous world where their rights are being stripped daily, everything is on fire, and the government is all but demanding women have children?
And I realize its absolutely none of my business and these thoughts aren't appropriate but I have them all the same.
It's not even parasocial, because anyone I follow announcing a pregnancy right now would elicit the same response from me. And women definitely should have the right to choose what happens to their bodies (and all people capable of giving birth obviously) but we don't.
So why would you subject yourself to that torment? In a world that is dangerous and on fire?

If you want and book and Amazon is the only one who has it you simply do not get it.
It's not a difficult choice.
Pick a different book? Pirate it? Get the physical book and see if a friend or loved ones minds reading it to you? I can't think of any book I'd sacrifice my ethics for.
Fuck Amazon.
Books on Libby have started disappearing.
My friend pointed it out first, and then I started noticing too. Why would books that multiple libraries definitely, 100% had digital access to a couple of months/weeks/days ago disappear?
Amazon is getting exclusive rights to them.
Ebooks that the public library once had digital copies of are now only available through Amazon. Audible boasts on their covers about Audible-exclusive audiobooks that did not used to be Audible-exclusive. Entire series and collections are disappearing overnight.
Keep your eyes on the privatization of media and your libraries.

It's mostly my poor memory? So I devour a constant stream of fixation and then when the stra ge opportunity presents itself to share I've forgotten everything until someone says a key phrase or word and I'm activated like a sleeper agent.
i beat myself up for not knowing enough about my special interests a lot but then i remember the average person off the street has no idea what the carboniferous is and i feel better

you are 16. you are talking with a gay man in his 50s or 60s, a friend, huge and gentle with a scarf and short fluffy curls of gray hair, who has directed you in two plays staged in your mid-size artsy town. (he has not yet asked you to be in his production of The Laramie Project which will change your life. this conversation will also change your life.)
he is talking about theatre. he is talking about theatre when he was younger. he says, "of course, it was AIDS then." in the pause, you ask him. clumsy and quiet and 16 and "straight," you ask him. what was it like.
he takes a moment in which his face is not like a person's face. "there was a time," he says, "i'm not sure how long, years. when i went to a funeral every weekend." he tells you about two funerals in a day, and choosing between friends when you couldn't make it to both. he does not look at you, he looks at them. his wet grey gaze is so clear that you start to see ghosts. it will be years before you understand why it feels like your grief too. why the ghosts call you family.

the people who go "we shouldn't be so open about nudity because it could trigger someone's dysphoria" are like two steps max removed from "fat people being fat in public could trigger someone with an ed". like peoples' bodies are not the problem here, trying to restrict someone else's body because of how you personally feel is indistinguishable from conservative praxis. i'm sorry if that sounds harsh but there is basically no interpretation of "we need to control the bodies of [demographic]" that does not fall down the slippery slope of fascism.
