yes, i did ! that was such a long time agoooo ( 2017, right ? ), but please message me off-anon, because i'd love to reconnect ! that was a really cool experience i had with my two friends pris and mari and i had such a blast making all the shows with them and choosing all the themes with them and whatnot. however, they did most of the heavy lifting and they really deserve the bulk of the credit.

unfortunately, when you get a taste of how popular a concept can be, it can very easily turn into a numbers game, which became my problem. we had about eighty members at one point and at least one applicant who was sending really triggering anons to one of the co-mods because this applicant had multiple psas written about her and we were scared that she would harass our members if allowed in. on top of that, it's hard to get members, but it's even harder to keep them, and i unfortunately began to see many of our newcomers as numbers rather than individual people. that’s where i fucked up, which absolutely wasn't fair to them and five years later, that is something i regret. when days would go by with slower activity than most, i would start stressing out, which is a problem that followed me until the very end of my time in the rpc.

on top of that, the group began to form cliques against our control. unfortunately, this is a bit of a common thing that happens in groups with a lot of members. this is something a lot of admins don't see when they're in the throes of it, because some bad eggs will be super sweet to mods and then make groups a bit tense for members right under the mods' noses. we were being blamed for not stopping the cliques, which is totally fair. i should have known better and i should have done more and that's something i'll continue to carry with me even after this blog goes silent ( if you missed it, click my pinned post for more details ). so at the height of its popularity, i left. thankfully, mari and pris were both incredibly understanding and the group died shortly after.

so please, take it from me: unless you're sure you can handle it ( i certainly wasn't ), it's much better to have smaller numbers for a concept you love than bigger numbers for a concept you took on for the potential it had. 30 members may be less active than 90 or so, but you'll have a much better time. however, i did really enjoy my time there and the lessons i learned from it, so please, don’t be a stranger !

If you have a big, emotional, self hating meltdown every time someone tells you that you hurt them or crossed a boundary of theirs, then that means you're not a safe person to say no to - and that's something you need to work on. Even if you're genuinely just really upset that you hurt someone, if every attempt at communicating a boundary to you results in the person you hurt having to repeatedly reassure you that you're not actually a bad person, then you need to work on controlling yourself and taking constructive criticism.

how can you tell when it's time to leave the rpc?

i can only really speak from my experience, but for me, i started telling people i "wanted to leave" about two years ago after a really horrible experience in the rpc. you know what it's like when the groups you thought would turn out don't or the characters you thought would have a longer shelf life won't, but that's more of like a heat of the moment thing and not something i actually considered for more than a day, and i feel like we've all been there. last year, i really started looking at semi-appless rps and in the groups i made myself, they got a lot smaller, just because in bigger groups, it can sometimes feel like you're babysitting or like you're this school teacher watching over the chaotic kids. that was probably sign number one. and then i decided to give indie a try and realized just how much i prefer the more private style of 1x1 rping, which was around three months ago, and then i basically knew. i told a few of my friends in april and that was that. so i guess my answer is that if it doesn't feel right, it probably isn't. if it feels taxing, it probably is, and i'd really encourage getting a feel for something new to test the waters and see what you're truly feeling.

hi, everyone ! so this post is not an easy one to make, considering i’ve been in the rpc for around 10 years and in the appless rpc for about 9 of them, but after such a long, great journey, i have decided to leave the majority of my rpc life behind ( beyond 1x1s, which still have got me hooked ). i have met some terrific people here who i will forever cherish and who i hope to still be friends with years down the line, and i have made memories to last a lifetime. to may, mari, amanda, diana, anna, pris, stem, julie, lauren, josie, nia, maddie, jess, olivia, and literally anyone else i’m forgetting from past or present, because there are a lot of you, it’s been a blast and i’m so grateful to have gotten to meet and befriend the super talented rpc heroes i only dreamt of getting to know when i first got into this. but this whole post wasn’t just for me to make this grandstand oscar speech. point is, i’ve run my fair share of groups within my time here, and i have nothing to gain or lose anymore by telling you the full, honest truth, so if you have any questions on how to run a group, how a group gets popular, how to stop it from dying, or how to make those pesky anons chill out, i’ll be here all week to answer any of your questions as honestly and fearlessly as i can ! after that, this blog will be pretty much silent, so ask away while you still can ! i can’t wait to help out as much of you as i can.
