Not a fuck customers but definitely a fuck coworkers/bosses. So I made the decision to publicly come out as trans. My first two steps were to come out to friends/family on Facebook, and then to come out at work. I wanted to socially transition before anything else to basically test the water and for my happiness/comfort. Work flat out refused to change my name/gender until I had legal paperwork from the courts backing this up. Not even to let me go by my new name to my coworkers.

Fine. You want to be difficult? I’ll give you difficult. Instead of slowly transitioning and giving work time to come to terms with it and change me in our various systems and with our clients, I went and immediately got a name/gender change at the courthouse. Got my paperwork signed by a judge and returned to me in four days. So I brought it right the fuck in to work and demanded they change everything immediately.

They didn’t….say no exactly. They said sure, or whatever. But they’re being very difficult about it. So the first two letters of my name changed from Mo to Ma. So my email currently exists as BOTH and no one knows which to use. One internal system has Ma but another has Mo. Another has Ma as my contact name but publically notes my old email address as Mo. So everyone is confused and no one knows why my name is changing in the system or even who this fucker Ma is and while nothing work is doing is technically *illegal* I’m still pretty fucking pissed about it. You have someone get married? You just change the name. Someone is trans? Apparently you give them all sorts of fucking harassment. And I’m so pissed.

The other day my supervisor was trying to email another department to tell them my name is no longer Mo it’s Ma and to please change my name in their system. The other department emailed back….asking what Mo had changed their email address to.

No! Nonononono. You literally were JUST told the new name. It’s in the email you are replying to! Just ask if Ma’s email address is the same or different, it isn’t hard! But instead, this confused my supervisor…..who then continued the email chain by referring to me as Mo in every subsequent email.

Awesome. Fuck
