Game Night

“Jesus take the wheel, Satan behind me, Buddha—man the .50 cal,” I ordered, heart beating hard. We were almost there.

“Do you see that lake we’re headed towards, which way am I supposed to go? Honestly, this is what happens when Moses ditches us,” Jesus groused. He made a sharp turn at the last minute, narrowly avoiding a watery end.

“I got it to work!” We heard Buddha yell over the sudden thundering bellow of the machine gun.

“Took you long enough! I told you I would’ve been better manning that thing,” Satan complained.

“Oh would you stop complaining, Lucy. You really gotta learn to let go of things,” Goutam shot back, grinning at us as he took down the hoards hot on our heels.

“Easy for you to say isn’t it. Although you lectured me until my ears bled that one time—LOOK OUT” I yelled.

It was too late—the grenade none of us had noticed went off and everything went black.

Jesus groaned. “Really guys. Really. Every time.”

“This is not on me. Lucy was supposed to be on bomb watch,” I replied.

Lucifer shot me a look. “Well I hate bomb watch, Krish. Besides what were you doing anyway. I didnt see your scans achieving much.”

“Well they would’ve if someone had stopped us from going up in smoke. Again.”

“This happens every time, can’t we just get along guys,” Goutam interrupted.

Jesus sighed. “Well I gotta get back. You know how the humans get. See you guys next millenia.”
