daizandhooks:
For something thrown together for the sake of peace, the ministry really did not pull any punches. The room was beautifully decorated, dazzling and distracting. Despite growing up around magic Daisy still found herself in awe of its power and just how much magic there was out there that she didn’t know. Her eyes were glues on the floating orbs, illuminating the guests with ethereal light, only snapping out of her daze when a body crashed into her. She shook her head as the masked girl apologized. “It’s fine. these things happen.” She offered more worried about the hem of her dress then her shoes. One hand grasped the sea colored chiffon of her dress to inspect the damage. Nothing major was stained and even if it was it could be replaced. “These aren’t my favorite shoes. My favorite shoes are a pair of scruffy looking trainers, super comfortable but probably looked down at in this group…” She grinned sweetly, chancing a look around the room at everyone dressed in their finest. “I think we should probably get you another drink though.”
"Oh, I don’t think they would’ve even let you in if you wore those.” She teased with a small chuckle. Mary was relieved that she didn’t seem upset about it. The last thing she wanted was to ruin someones night or outfit. Especially since everyone looked as good as they did. “Yeah, I think so. Maybe I should sit with this one though. To avoid further incident.” She was sure that if anything else were to happen like that again tonight, she’d be running out of here in shame. “So are you enjoying the ball so far?”

It was rather fortunate that Bellatrix was a witch, especially considering that the designer dress she was wearing to this ball was custom made, specifically for this event. She didn’t the likes of a mudblood to ruin her outfit, particularly when she was in a foul mood as it was to be surrounded by such imbeciles. “Perhaps if you had been taught basic ladylike manners as a child this wouldn’t have happened.” She snapped as she rolled her eyes to take a step closer to the other as she imagined just what exactly she would have done to the other if they weren’t in such a public atmosphere. “Such a pity that filth like you never were taught the importance of these.”
"My parents were too busy teaching me how to be nice and respectful. It appears you missed those lessons in your lady classes.” These kind of events weren’t really Mary’s scene. Sure, it was absolutely lovely, but she was more used to cookouts and casual get-togethers. She took a small step back when the other stepped forward. “If I remember correctly, the idea behind this is peace, is it not? I don’t think calling me filth is very peaceful of you, Bellatrix.”

“OH, BOO HOO —” She couldn’t resist the urge to roll her eyes, and since she couldn’t control it, she made sure the other girl saw it, clearly. If there was one thing Emma disliked, it was someone who couldn’t enjoy just a bit of innocent fun like this, especially if it was at a party. “Wait a second, is that you, Macdonald?” Ah, now it all made sense. “I thought I recognized the way you sucked all the fun out of the room.”
"IF YOU want it so bad, why not do it yourself? Too afraid to get your hands dirty?” She asked, annoyance evident in her tone. It wasn’t that Mary wasn’t fun, she just reserved that side of her for her friends. Though she wasn’t nearly was rowdy as some of the others in her house. “It was easy to recognize your classless behavior. I’m sorry I’d rather have manners.”

marlenesmckinncns:
Marlene was walking through the party, a risky rule breaker in anyway, shape or form. The glares and otherwise staring in her direction as she walked through, the red jumpsuit an eye-catching outfit, while she propped the mask atop her head. Personally, hiding herself was only convenient if there was a former shag lurking for another round.
Probably would be the only reason Marlene would pull it down. Personally, she was looking for a reason to leave. This particular set of party wasn’t her forte. Playing sweet and cute while her parents lingered nearby, her brother’s eyes watching her every step she took.
She saw it happen, slowly, like a true accident waiting to happen, the spill, as Marlene approached the brunette from behind, slipping an arm through Mary’s, as she grinned. “It’s alright, isn’t it, ol’ chap?” She announced to the Auror, a tilt of her head matching the sweet smile. “C’mon, before someone arrests you for being an utter klutz.” She ushered. “So–how was your summer? Did you do anything I would do?” Marlene asked suggestively.
The man was grumpy and Mary could swear his vein was about to pop out of neck from how angry he was. So when her friend came to her rescue, she was relieved. "He seemed like the type to arrest someone just for breathing the wrong way. He doesn’t look like she’s smiled a day in his life” She said with a small chuckle as the pair walked away. “Oh, summer was great. I don’t know if I should kiss and tell though.” Mary teased with a grin. She did have quite a summer, far better than the previous ones. “I’d say you’d be quite proud. My mum on the other hand would probably faint if she knew. How about I tell you over some drinks, I’m going to need a bit of firewhiskey or something in me first.”

narcissaa:
THE LIGHTS WERE bright over her head and reflected on her golden curls like liquid gold cascading down her open back, honey lips curled in dashing smiles as she revolved around the others that had arrived with her, the only ones of which she knew who hid behind their mask. Between silly banter, jokes, and melodies she spoon too quickly in hopes to march away from the current spot, but dainty body collided immediately with another earning a huff from her crimson lips. Cold liquid on her skin and she looked down in horror only to look up with daggers in her eyes. “Not that it would matter much now, wouldn’t it, they are ruined.” Brattish words slipped from her mouth with harshness and poison. “You ought to look were you’re headed with you’re clumsy self.”
A FROWN found its way onto Mary’s lips. They were just shoes, was it really that big of a deal? She thought the other could easily get a new pair, but she kept that to herself.“Well, how would you know they’re ruined if you haven’t tried to clean them yet? I - I’m sure with the right spell it’ll come right out.” She suggested. Mary had always been a bit of a klutz, and these things seemed to happen more often than she liked. “You’re right. I should be more careful, I’ll remember that for next time.”

WHILE THE ANONYMITY OF THE MASQUERADE WAS MEANT TO BE ENTICING, it left Lily with a certain anxiety pooling within her. She was hesitant to attend at all, finding herself on edge for a majority of the evening. Being who she is, and how loud she is about her beliefs – The idea of not knowing if you were talking to your roommate or half a second away from being cursed by Bellatrix Black didn’t sound like an appealing way to end the summer holiday. Knowing better than to decline her invitation, she pulled on a dress and tried to believe that this evening really was an attempt at unity and peace. Regardless, she’s spent the night hovering near the drinks table, using the spiked punch as a means of liquid courage. Or at least, enough to get her from focusing on the lack present identity, and more on enjoying her night. As another masked guest approached, she found herself speak. “I’d avoid the shrimp,” she begins, wrinkling her nose. “I saw another guest run off to the bathroom pretty quick after having one. Seems like a recipe for disaster.”
IF THERE was one thing she was grateful for about the ball , it was the food . it seemed like an endless list of options and she wanted to try it all . she had made several trips to the table , this time , grabbing a bit of the shrimp . she had one in her hands , ready to eat it when she heard the others warning . “ are you serious ? i bet they’re trying to poison us all .” she joked , before setting her plate down . “ thanks for the warning , though . you saved me there . ” a grateful smile painted her lips . studying the girl in front of her , it only took her a few moments to recognize her . “ lily ?! oh thank merlin it’s you . you look lovely ! ”

“SO, LISTEN —” She addressed the person standing next to her, not really bothering to get a closer look at the face underneath the mask. Emma Vanity currently had her eye on the prize, and she was not about to be distracted. “Do you see that Auror over there? The one with the red bowtie,” She continued, nodding subtly in the direction she meant. “He’s got a flask of something interesting in his back pocket, I walked past him earlier tonight while he took a sip — and it smelled wicked strong.”
This time, she lowered her voice, slightly more covert, though the man seemed distracted enough not to notice her scheming. “Help me nick it from him? I need something to get through this evening with the sulking presences all around the room,” Emma pouted out her lip slightly, tilting her head sidewards. “I’ll give you ten galleons for the effort.”
“ ABSOLUTELY NOT , vanity .” mary didn’t even have to think twice about her answer . she was no thief . even if she was , she wasn’t sure she’d help emma . after all , the pair didn’t exactly get along . “ whatever he has is his business . maybe if you offer him the ten galleons he’ll give it to you . or you just need to find the right people to ask . ” slender shoulders raised into a shrug . she herself had no issues finding a few drinks . though she never was a big drinker , only on social occasions like this .

wixenprince:
A mandatory, Ministry-regulated, masquerade ball. A more vile combination of words had never been heard by Severus before. It was bad enough that he now had to spend a precious evening before the start of school away from the bubbling cauldrons he was tending to during his summer apprenticeship, but even worse so was the fact that he had to dress up for it.
Oh well. At least he could hide his face.
Although what he really wanted to hide was his entire body, as he stood in the far corner of the busy room and stared down at his ill-fitting, borrowed shoes. His black dress robes were slightly too long for his shorter frame, and he scowled behind his silvery mask as he carefully watched the other party-goers. This entire charade seemed like a trap, and he was nervous to say much of anything in case if an Auror overheard him expressing any sort of camaraderie with the darker side of the brewing political conflict.
He eyed the door, shuffling slowly along the wall towards it. Hopefully, he’d be able to slip out of this hellhole unnoticed…
she could spot severus from a mile away . to mary , his features were extremely recognizable even with a mask on , or maybe it was just because she disliked him so much . it was unlike her to hate people , but there were a few on her list and he was definitely one of them . “ try not to look so miserable , will you ? you’re practically sulking .”

where: ministry masquerade ball. when: saturday august 27th, 09:40 pm. who: barty crouch jr & anyone
One could assume that after 19 years of attending events just like this one, Barty’s distaste for them would have decreased but looking around at his peers he couldn’t help but scowl. The only reason he was even attending was so that he wouldn’t have to explain himself about not attending. His grades were pretty excellent either way, so that didn’t bother him much but he would certainly want to avoid a conversation like that at all cost.
So far he hadn’t spotted anyone he would particularly wish to spend time with yet, though those people were generally rare. Instead, he was slowly getting a headache from all the chatter around him. This event that was supposed to create peace was certainly efficient at making him feel even more homicidal than usual. Time to get himself a drink and wait for the earliest acceptable time to leave.
despite the ball being unoptional , mary was glad that she came . these kinds of things were still all new to her , but she still found enjoyment in them . as a young girl , she had always wanted to go to a ball , and though she wished it were under better circumstances , it was still better than nothing .
she was in need of a drink , and had attempted to get one , but something , or more so someone was standing in her way . “ excuse me .” mary spoke loudly for the second time . “ you’re um , kind of in my way . i just need to get something to drink . ”

bellatriixed:
It was a pity that her sisters and herself had separated at the beginning of the ball, leaving Bellatrix in search of someone that was vaguely tolerable. Well that, or a drink of champagne to get her through the rest of this night. Moving fluidly through the crowd to pick up a flute, a small snarl began to appear upon her lips as she was suddenly bumped into by a certain individual, causing the drink to spill all over her shoes and small splashes of the drink to overturn upon parts of her dress. “Do you mind?” She snarled with a slight growl as she lifted her wand to disappear the mess before realising who exactly was the owner of said accident. “Should have expected this to happen from the likes of you Macdonald.”
a quick look of disdain flashed across mary’s features . “ well i mean , it’s all fixed now isn’t it ? i’m not sure why you’re still crying about it , black . ” the words were forced out bravely . maybe it was the few drinks she had in her system before from before , because though truth be told , bellatrix black scared her . she made an effort of avoiding her when she got the chance , and this was the complete opposite of what she had wanted .

how often does your muse get sick?
mary gets sick every winter , at least three times. it’s been that way since she was a child. before discovering she was a witch , she would walk around with boxes of tissues blowing her nose until it turned bright red . now it’s a bit easier to manage with potions , but she still does get sick often

fancy balls were not theo’s usual party scene, and as stuffy and repressed as some of the people around seemed, she was still having fun. perhaps the vodka cruisers she had downed while getting ready had something to do with it. she was idly admiring some of the magical decorations above when she bumped into another girl, and felt something cold splash around her ankles.
“oh, it’s fine, it’s fine,” theo laughed off the other girl’s apologies as she shifted her weight awkwardly, trying to figure out how best to get the shoes off without falling over. “a cleaning charm might fix them and if it doesn’t, well, it’s a good excuse to get new ones right?”
a quiet sigh of relief slipped past her lips when she realized she hadn’t upset the other . “ you’re right . i think i may know just the perfect one too . and if not , well , it looks like we’ll have to go shoe shopping . ” pulling out her wand from her dress , she looked down to her shoes , before back to the blonde . “ may i ? ”
