There really aren't that many super incriminating oscarmark facts, but for me, a big part of the appeal is how casual and subtle they are. Like they fly, hang out, eat, and play padel together ... I just don't see any other manager doing all that with their driver. Then there's ofc the way they talk about each other, Mark is absolutely smitten for Oscar and he makes it so clear in interviews and on the contrary Oscar is alot more subtle but sometimes he clearly lets it slip how much he cares about mark and thats so yummy (calling him very protective but not fatherly, calling mark his 2nd biggest influence after his dad...). It's just so good to see how much they care about each other, and it's why I absolutely love them so much.

I have some AU ideas and I tried writing them, but I have a really hard time with my diction and making my writing enjoyable and not super amateurish. The idea I most recently had was an AU where Oscars not a driver and he adopts and old retired racing greyhound named Mark after having a bit of an emotional breakdown and it turns out the dog he adopts is a reincarnation of Mark Webber and eventually Oscars' dog turns into a human Mark (without any of his memories) and eventually after working through alot they fall in love. Just a silly idea I had but my writing troubles made it so it didn't go anywhere... maybe one day I'll give it a shot I have the whole plot in my head and its really good and sweet ☹️

EXACTLY!!!! like— the way theyre so casual yet so??? attached??? to each other rly made me go “hmmmm yall teasing me. i like that” esp the clips and reports regarding oscmrk flying together…. the fact that theyre so close yet they we only know few crumbs of their lore is just *explodes* fucking hell man 💔💔💔 (i respect their privacy though. its cool that theyre not too loud regarding their relationship yadda yadda)

Oscar has stayed with Mark too at his new house (and probably at his old house too there’s pics of him there) people just don’t talk about it as much since Oscar just subtly dropped a pic of it in a instagram dump vs George sounding guilty af about being with Toto on a podcast. Oscar is just way more mindful than George about his age gap but they both go crazy fucking their old men (Mark is way more loyal and good to Oscar though so it’s the better ship, Toto would sell George for Max in a second)

he seems as nonchalant as usual here but "some emotions coming back" for mark has real potential. will be thinking about that. i really enjoy the idea of mark being much more emotionally driven than oscar... rpfmoding now: oscar's the one in the car battling for the title but is skilled at keeping his cool, staying pragmatic, and appearing largely unfazed. mark is only watching from the sidelines and yet feels it all 10x more, on top of emotion resurfacing from his own time as a driver...yerrrp

i never thought I’d care about age gap yaoi but Markoscar vs Toto/george there is a CLEAR WINNER. Toto’s selling George for a corn chip…. Mark is loyal like a dog…Toto and George are openly weird about each other (one more than the other perhaps) which leaves no air of mystery… Markoscar are just weird. Oscar’s career will forever be intertwined with Marks for better or for worse… every time someone mentions Oscar their 3rd word is “mark”

you know the age gaps are yaoing when the points you're making for both sides are all good. i think there is definitely something compelling about groto's blatant Weirdness + toto's negligence of george vs george's desire so i get it. but ofc my heart is with oscarmark. sooo true to how intertwined their careers are... even though they both repeatedly acknowledge oscar is "better" is mark (their paraphrased words, not mine) they're always mentioned in tandem... and i think they are a bit more RPFable because the mystery leaves plenty of room for playing with them like dolls. but some would argue that oscarmark is more heavily "fanon" whereas groto are Like That for reals. much to consider

okayyy, so. where do I start. I have so many thoughts and none of them are coherent.

Initially I envisioned it as rbr!mark traveling to the present (dont ask me how or why, this is why im not writing it). Mark assumes Oscar is just a random driver, later oscar’s like “so you’re my mentor/manager/lover/whatever” and rbr!mark blue-screens.

It is a severe mindfuck for mark bc he looks at oscar and sees himself, but also everything he never was. he either makes peace with the no-WDC thing or gets spiteful about it. We can’t ignore the vettel–oscar parallels everywhere. Mark’s resentment towards Seb bleeds into how he looks at oscar. rbr!mark’s fuse is short, mean, hot. he takes it out on oscar because of course he does.

oscar obviously thinks rbr!mark is hot (in the bad idea way) but prefers old mark. he misses the groundedness, the tenderness that stuck around after the edges dulled. he misses the dadness. rbr!mark is sleazier, rawer, reckless in a way that fascinates him, but it’s not home. sometimes he slips and treats rbr!mark like future mark, maybe even says “dad” by accident, and rbr!mark just. Dies.

the vibe I envision is weird and hot and frustrating and rancid and toxic for both of them. they do not get along. oscar can be a little shit about it, which makes rbr!mark hate him more, which makes oscar worse. hate sex? yeah probably.

the meta is delicious and evil: rbr!mark knows oscar loves someone else (him-but-not-him) so he keeps see-sawing between impressing oscar and antagonizing him. nasty tension, and then these awful, tender little slips that feel like confessionals they didn’t mean to give.

even better if it’s 2010/2011 rbr!mark, he meets oscar and realizes he “just doesn’t have it in him” (his words). So he’s even more resentful. he also decides future-him settled for oscar, which makes him feral. and yes, the funniest part is learning he will never outgrow his thing for annoying twinks. tragicomedy.

the one good thing is that it helps oscar understand why mark Is The Way He Is™. he sees how the sharpness turned into softness without losing the scar tissue. gross, intimate, clarifying.

BUT IT DOESNT END HERE.

Upon discussing with the amazing @meightyone , he introduced me to the equally, if not more appealing idea of Oscar traveling to the past, so massive credits to him.

the stakes are crazy here. rbr!mark has championships on the line, plus the sebmark of it all. oscar has the upper hand for once. he knows mark, he knows the beats, he can flip the power dynamic and it’s sooooo satisfying. he’s nonchalant because to him, “he’s just… mark.” refuses to be impressed. it crawls under mark’s skin.

mark tries to put oscar in the twink/hookup box, but oscar just… doesn’t play. he gives mark what he wants (attention, sex, a fight), but only on his terms. by the end, mark NEEDS oscar’s approval, which humiliates him and makes it worse.

Maybe oscar even considers the “i can fix him” thing and then realizes that without rbr!mark there is no mark. he also fully respects manager!mark more than driver!mark and would 100% say it out loud (lie detector vid), which is so funny and so evil. rbr!mark is like: why am i obsessed with this annoying twink who basically reads my mind and tells me i lowkey suck… he’s cute tho.

and the mean-but-true bit is that when rbr!mark takes his frustration out on oscar, oscar kind of gets it. valid crashout. he knows how badly mark wanted it then, and how badly mark now wants it for oscar. he knows which buttons to push, when to let him burn off the rage, when to pull him back. it’s toxic, it works, i love it.
