I remember the first day I saw her… this little girl can skate as fast as me, jump higher than me, two years younger than me… then we started skating together. My cousin and Tessa’s sister were very good friends. They thought it would be cute if we were dating so we dated when we started skating.

In many ways, Tessa and I had such a complex relationship cause we had a connection on the ice and there’s real love in that connection. Now that we’re a little bit older, we’re secure enough to talk about how special this relationship is. We avoided that for many years because we didn’t understand it.”
