I really wish I could spend all of my time writing but I have so much going on and the stories I'm writing require a lot of staring at the wall and figuring out pace or complex plots and I also require time to question my existence as a writer. It's a lot 😭

I think there's a lot more to Arthur than the show allows us to see. But at the same time, I think there's a lot we can see between the lines of what the show does give.

We see how big his heart is in the first season and how, though he quickly spirals into being an alcoholic and drug addict, this still persists. But we also see his desperation to just be a human. He can't be the head of the family anymore because Tommy took it from him, knowing Arthur wouldn't have the heart to fight back.

I just can't stop thinking about how he was as a big brother growing up and how much pride he must have had in that, only for it to be deemed "useless." Because it's one thing to be the head of the family that's causing some mischief, but is ultimately normal and running a family like a business navigating high-stakes scenarios. So can he just be human, at least?

Funnily (miserably) enough, his desperation for humanity and family pushes him to do things that are "inhumane" and turn him into a mad dog. I can only imagine how painful existing is for him during the years of the show. And then to just have completely untreated PTSD and likely rage about the path his family is going down only adds to the overwhelm.

And then, as much as I enjoy Linda, I also see a woman who likely fell for who she could make Arthur into. Not that I blame her. Don't we all sort of look at him and think he just needs a hug and someone to dote on him? But he's also a mess. He's presently living as a mess and he's (as we also see) going to fuck up a lot. And Tommy's more powerful than any voice. So realistically, wouldn't he need someone who's, essentially, more than okay not being a savior?
