Manon had hoped it was all a bad dream. When she got the text and saw the signature of -A, she felt her heart literally stop and her stomach drop. This couldn’t be happening. Not again. It was already bad enough it was the twenty year anniversary of that night but to see the threat back....she couldn’t handle it. The urge to have a drink was coming back and she knew she needed to get home before she made a terrible decision. She walked through and when she heard Austin she immediately headed to him and collapsed in his arms. “I can’t do this....not again,” she muttered into his shoulder as she clung onto him.

The text from -A had startled everyone it seemed, almost made him think it was Allie but then again it brought up shit with Annie and all of the other fucking -A’s that this town had in the past. Fuck. This was all a fucking mess. Moving his bad hand a little bit, he heard the door and knew it his was wife since his kids were off, hopefully being safe. “Hey, love.” Austin was feeling a lot, which meant that she probably was too. -A, was a sore subject for all of them. “Are you doing okay?” Naturally Austin would bury his shit because Manon needed him and he would always be there.

The papers of his students sat before him as he enjoyed his lunch break in the coffee shop. This was probably the worst part about being a professor - reading and grading papers. Sometimes he wished he could switch his area to something like math where it was a simple correct or incorrect answer but no, he had to read through them and then evaluate their ideas. It took significantly longer. He was reading through one of the papers when he felt someone hovering nearby. “My office hours are at 3 this afternoon if you wish to discuss your paper,” he stated without looking, believing it was one of his students.

Sage placed the drink down in front of him, unable to stop her eyes from traveling over his form before reaching his face and giving him a small smile.  “Pretty brave of you to come here on karaoke night.” She mused, leaning back slightly before turning her head towards the raucous that was currently pouring from the speakers.  “Usually it’s just regulars.”

Dominic had been watching the performer on the stage when his drink arrived so he hadn’t noticed how she had looked him up and down. He only turned back to her when he heard her speak to him. “Honestly, I had no idea it was karaoke night,” he replied as he took his drink, “I was just looking for a change in scenery.”
