Mei merely grinned, not replying to the accusation. 

She noticed the paling complexion on her friend's face before remembering Lyra had a fear of flying. "Oh! I just realised something. There's a ferry here so we can just that take that to Virbank City then just walk to Aspertia. Hopefully it won't be dark by the time we reach it. If it does get dark, we have to fly though."

" .. W-w-w-wh-what?! Y-you’d really do that?!" Lyra almost reeled back in shock, completely taking Mei seriously on the matter.

" .. Y-Yeah, we can bake! .. You’re a really good friend, you know that-" She cut herself off. “O-oh! Flying .. o-okay .. "

"I'll protect you! Unless, you're the one destroying the cake then I must sacrifice you for the greater good." She kept a bright expression as she stated that.

"Woo! We can back another cake together! It'll be great!" Mei waved it off. "No problem! I'll make sure you have the best sleepover ever!! Oh, by the way, we have to fly there, though.."

"O-okay .. " Her reply came out meek and in a whimper, slowly letting go of Mei’s shirt before she ended up wrinkling it. “A-as long as they don’t, like .. hurt me."

Her mood instantly perked up. “A sleepover?! Yeah, of course! Girl’s night!" Lyra never really had a chance to have sleepovers or anything as a child. She was completely thrilled about the idea. 

Immediately, her arm hooked with Mei’s. “Lead the way!" Her smile was one of embarrassment. " .. This is gonna be my first sleepover, but I’m sure it’ll be lots of fun, since it’s with you!"

"Oh, I see, I see!" She didn't notice the forced laughter from Lyra. 

"There's nothing to be afraid of!! The cake god are really nice people if you don't ruin the perfectness that's cake.. Hah.. Ha..HA." Mei laughed, twitching slightly as images of ruined cake flashed by her eyes. She shook her head, trying not to think of it again. 

"Anyways..! Since you're in Unova now, you wanna have a sleepover at my house? It's not that far from where we are." Now, she nudged Lyra suggestively. "We can resume our boy talk then."

" .. Well! I only remembered that from a friend, yep! Ahahaha!" Nailed it.

"G-gah! No! I’m so sorry cake gods! P-please have mercy on me!"

What was sad about Lyra’s DESPAIR was that she was actually serious in apologizing to said ‘cake gods’. She even hid behind Mei, in cause some frosting fell from the sky or spongy cakes pelted her from above.

Mei internally cheered at the prospect of free cake. 

"Eh?" She blinked at the idea, mind mulling over it. "..You know, the last time I heard someone say was a preschooler." 

She stared wide-eyed at Lyra. "You just don't MOCK CAKE LIKE THAT, LYRA. The cake gods will bestow HORROR and DESPAIR on you if they heard you say that!"

"I am, I am! I’ll buy you cake to show you how sorry I am!"

She stared curiously at Mei. “Don’t know if you like him, huh? .. " Lyra trailed off, lost in thought. " .. Hehe. I heard that if a girl and a boy fight a lot, it means they like each other!"

" .. Cake .. doesn’t breathe though Mei .. c-can it have feelings? .. W-wait, is cake .. a Pokemon?"

"Yeah- You should be sorry!" 

"Weeell.. I dunno if I like him or don't like him. We bicker a lot but at the same time we have a lot of good moments , ya know?" She made a face. "That's why I like cake better, I know it loves and I know I love it!"

"I-I’m sure! I’m sorry!" She waved her hands around, still horribly covering up her embarrassment and frustration. Despite being friends for a while, she still hasn’t gotten used to Mei’s teasing.

Lyra grinned triumphantly.

"Good, good. Now tell me who this mysterious guy is! I gotta make sure he’s right for you!" It was her turn to wiggle her eyebrows at her pig tailed friend.

Mei merely patted her shoulder in comfort. 

"Are you sure?" Another eyebrow wiggle. "Because you're getting as pink as strawberry ice cream!!" She laughed at Lyra's obvious embarrassment, enjoying the teasing. 

"I was traveling with my Pokemon too, so-!!" She tried to dodge the poke attack but failed, laughing harder, ticklish in the sides. "Okay, okay!! Fine! Just stop poking me in the sides!"

Lyra made frustrated sounds, throwing up her hands.

" .. It’s .. it’s no one .. " She could’ve sworn her cheeks were burning pink. Lyra was never good at lying. Plus, she already did tell Mei she thought someone was cute. Smooth, Lyra, smooth.

She giggle snorted at Mei. “Of course ya’ are! - Hn, I was travelling with my Pokemon!" She began poking her in the side. “C’mon! Who is it?!"

Mei huffed, crossing her arms while pouting. "If you tell first, I'll tell next!! Unless, I can go on a grand adventure on figuring out who!!" She giggled, thinking up all sorts of plans for that. 

"I'm married to cake, for better or for worse." She stuck out her tongue now, mirroring the girl's actions before. "You could have been traveling with your boyfriend!"

Lyra turned her head away, sticking out her tongue at Mei, but grinned playfully back at her. “No, because you didn’t tell!"

"Yeah, but I was travelling! You couldn’t been off with your .. " She lowered her voice to a whisper. " .. Boyfriend .. "

"You know I'm only teasing!!" Mei laughed at the brunette, pinching her right cheek in amusement. "Ohoho, you did, did you?" She leaned in close, wiggling her eyebrows. "Dare to tell who?"

She shrugged half-heartily, trying to shrug off the conversation discreetly while trying to aim the focus on Lyra. "You've been gone too, you know!!"

"H-hey! This is about you, not me!" Lyra crossed her arms, puffing out her cheeks when she let go of her. " .. A-as a matter of fact, I did! But hey, what about you? You’ve been gone for so long!"

Lyra was giggling nonstop. “How’ve you been?! Where have you been?! What’re you up to?!"

She grinned brightly, easily replying to her friend's rapid questions. "I've been good!! Traveling around again!! How about you?!" She let go of Lyra, a sudden devious glint in her eyes. "Met any cute boys yet?!"

"Eeep-!" Mei let out a startled yelp, arms wrapping around the shorter girl's shoulders. "I missed you too!!"
