“There are no female aliens in our game because we don’t know how to make a female version of this alien” You know that alien you just designed? That male alien? Give it a female voice actor and have characters refer to it as she. That’s it. That’s literally all you have to do
Make her shorter if you must
Make her BIGGER if you aren’t a coward

i absolutely LOVE peter in gotham fics but one ething i want to address is the absolute untapped potential of miles morales in gotham fics. heres my idea:
first off peter has no genetic relation to the wayne’s or dick at all. i SEE the potential of richard parker and richard grayson and i realize how fucking good it can be, but i literally put fics down when they mention it, solely because i ship peter with jason, and then dick being his dad ruins things. like, a lot. what’s worse is when it’s a spider-hood fic and they STILL include it. like that’s fucking incest??????? batcest in the big twenty five 💔
anyway, i think we should keep peter with clark in metropolis and find some weird way for him to still meet jason. i like writer jason todd so we can make him a journalist, idk. you could even make peter first start out in gotham, meet jason, they click (not immediately, love my slow burn), jason finds out peter has a love for photography n eventually recommends him applying for the daily planet back in metropolis, eventually peter DOES do this, and even more eventually jason fucking leaves gotham for him (big deal). or keep it to them in metropolis IDC.
point is, spider-hood slow burn fic is the first book.
then have miles morales crash into gotham somehow and meet tim and duke and a slightly older damian (i’d say about 15). miles created a life for himself, puts himself in school, and tries so hard to find a way back to his world. then make miles find family in them (found family trope, while missing the absolute fuck out of his family) and then meet peter through jason and be like ‘yo wtf!?!? you’re dead.’ and then peter be like ‘do ik you??’ or ‘miles morales… why does that name sound familiar??’
you can even do a romance with anyone of them (depending on the miles you chose, idk how old comic miles is but i think ITSV one is 16/15), i don’t care. i just better see miles spray painting alleyways with damian at least once.
if you do ITSV miles, you can have him thinking the entire time when he can’t find a way home that his dad is dead. AND THEN after getting so close to the batfam and thinking for MONTHS that his dad was dead, miles finds out that time on his world runs differently (think life happens by cdelphik, like two months on the DC world is one day in miles’ world). so his dad is actually alive and after getting help from damian and tim, he finds out a way to get to his world but he’s pretty sure it’s a one way ticket and he doesn’t want to leave the family he made but he can’t let his true family fall apart.
then a third fic where the multiverse is collapsing and miles world disintegrates and his family actually DOES die, and he’s the sole survivor :)
someone make this a series PLEASE. i am searching the edge of the earth for good spider in gotham fics and i cant fucking find a single one :(.

i think all the best sci-fi is the sci-fi that looks dirty and lived in. like yeah we could have space travel and lasers but people are still gonna leave dirty cups by the side of their sleep pod and get weird alien mud stuck on their boots and put off fixing that faulty light on the lower deck of the spaceship. its relatable. its humanizing.

Simon Riley with curly blond hair :( I love him.....
Him keeping it buzzed for so long that he forgets what it looks like. Only when he starts to thrive with the team does he get to look at himself with longer hair and not feel disgusted at the soft curls hanging over his forehead.
It's hard to feel bothered by it when Kyle was the one doing a five step hair care routine for him that morning, with Johnny's music playing in the back as he fussed over keeping the water out of Simon's eyes.
It doesn't upset him as much when he can lay his head in Price's lap and feel him play with his hair so gently, letting the curls wrap around his fingers as he twirls them in his hair.
It heals him just a little to see the way they all look at him with such warmth

There's so many Batfam fics where "Cass is in Hong Kong" is used as the author's excuse to deliberately exclude her from the story, to the point that it's basically become a trope. And when something has become a trope, it thus allows for subverting of said trope in funny ways.
Consider: a story that starts off like any other "Batfamily" fic that's really just about Bruce and his sons, but the first chapter ends with one of them saying, "I wonder what Cass is up to in Hong Kong?'
Smash cut to the second chapter, where Cass is neck-deep in her own wild adventure. Maybe she's fighting a whole army of undead ninjas. Maybe she's chilling on a beach with Stephanie and video-calling Barbara. Maybe she's not even in Hong Kong at all!
Regardless, the story never goes back to the guys in Gotham and instead continues to follow Cass on whatever she's doing.

Hello, I love your work and I was wondering...what if their roles we're reversed? Johnny being rich while Simon is his employee... Could you draw this? ❤️
Thanks ❤️❤️❤️ fuck, you’ve activated my one weakness... (AU of an AU)

GUIDE: NAMING A TOWN OR CITY
This post was originally from a FAQ, but since the original link is now defunct, I am re-posting it here.
There are many things to keep in mind when naming the town or city in your novel:
1) Genre/Theme/Tone
It’s very important to consider the genre and theme of your story when choosing a town name. Take these names for example, each of which indicates the genre or theme of the story: King’s Landing (sounds fantastical) Cloud City (sounds futuristic) Silent Hill (sounds scary) Sweet Valley (sounds happy and upbeat) Bikini Bottom (sounds funny) Radiator Springs (sounds car-related) Halloween Town (sounds Halloween-related) Storybrooke (sounds fairytale-related) 2) Time/Place It’s also important to consider the time and place where your story takes place. For example, you wouldn’t use “Vista Gulch” as a name for a town in Victorian England. You probably wouldn’t use it for a town in modern day North Carolina, either. Vista is a Spanish word and would normally be found in places where Spanish names are common, like Spain, Central and South America, the southwest United States (including southern California), Cuba, Puerto Rico, Dominican Republic, and Florida. 3) Size/Settlement Type An isolated town of 300 people probably won’t be Valley City, but a sprawling metropolis of 30 million could be called Windyville, because it could have started out as a small town and grew into a large city. 4) Geography Words like gulch, butte, and bayou tend to be regional terms. You probably wouldn’t find Berle’s Bayou in Idaho, or Windy Butte in Rhode Island. Words like mount, cape, and valley are dependent upon terrain. Most of the time, you won’t have a town named “mount” something unless there are hills or mountains nearby. You wouldn’t use “cape” unless the town was on a cape, which requires a large body of water. 5) History Is there a historical person or event that your town might be named after? The Simpsons’ hometown of Springfield is ironically named after its founder, Jebediah Springfield. Chattanooga, Tennessee is named after the Cherokee town that was there first. Nargothrond, in The Lord of the Rings, is an Elvish town with an Elvish name. 6) Combination of Words
person name + geographical term = Smithfield, Smith Creek
group name + geographical term = Pioneer Valley, Settlers’ Ridge
descriptive word + geographical term = Mystic Falls, Smoky Hill
person name + settlement type = Smithton, Claraville
landmark + settlement type = Bridgton, Beaconville

More thoughts on Ghost having a butch partner:
I don’t think she would be ex-military, necessarily, but I do think she works a job that’s hard on her body and mind in a way similar to that of a soldier.
A butch who works on docksides: hauling cargo off ships, working with heavy machinery that could easily crush her but maneuvering it with daring precision. Lifting barrels onto carts, each one full of oil and bilgewater and waste, and hauling them off the ships and onto docks where they belong to be emptied by her or the next crew on shift. Helping with scrubbing the sides of the vessels free of algae and barnacles, getting strapped into harnesses to weld holes in the hull and along the rub rails shut. Her scars are more often permanent bruises or odd dents in her skin, and her palms are rubbed raw with handling salt-stained ropes and climbing up rusty ladders. Her tattoos are nautical themed, she swears like a proper sailor, and speaks multiple languages to welcome the various crews and people that come into there harbor from distant shores. She’s always up to date on her tetanus shots, she sings loud and drinks hard, and she loves a good story—but none more than the ones her beloved brings home between deployments.
A butch who’s a blacksmith: her arms are huge and swollen from long hours in the forge, her shoulders always aching and neck always slightly hunched. She hammers away at pieces of art some days, or creates knives that she sells to local cutlery shops, or fixes up old railings or grates or vents that people bring to her—for a price, we all have to make a living. Maybe she has a contract with the city to do their forging along with several of her colleagues, maybe she does freelance for high-paying clients, maybe she works with the farmers around the outskirts of the city to keep their equipment in proper shape. Either way she always smells slightly of smoke and burnt metal, her hands bulging and strong from handling her tools. She’s covered in burn scars, many small and inconsequential from metal shavings or a student’s accidental brush against her, maybe a few larger ones from her own early apprenticeship. She has few tattoos, always nervous of them being damaged, and she’s quiet and intense around others. But she softens around those she loves, melting like metal under the crucible at familiar hands on her shoulders.
Or maybe something a bit more academic, a fossil hunter: storied and experienced, and always looking for the little things. She carries her tools with her everywhere, but especially in the wide open spaces of the British “countryside”, always looking for a rock to peek out from the manicured lushness and reveal its secrets. Her hands are worn but nimble, gentle when they need to be and strong every other moment. Her touch is delicate with the specimens she finds, her face always wondrous no matter if she’s seen this species before or if it’s something new for her to find. She has a keen eye and is quick to pick up on trails leading her to what she seeks, her legs strong and sturdy from hiking sometimes dozens of miles at a time across empty spaces to find her own buried treasure. She’s been all over the world, gets a tattoo in every new place she goes, her body covered in scars; cuts and scrapes from falls and brambles and her own tools, but she never wavers. Her enthusiasm for her finds is infectious, and it’s hard for a man hardened by death and war to not reach for her joyous light.
No matter what she does or who she is, she is home, and Ghost can always come back to her knowing that no one else will hold her like she does; like a half-tattered line on a bit, like a hammer’s familiar grip in a hand, like a fossil cradled between supped palms.
No matter where he goes, her love follows him.
