I know this is a well-liked series, but...ehhhh. Maybe it's because it's targeted toward younger readers around 10 years old, but I didn't find it that all appealing. If I had to think of the greatest let down in the book, it's the fact that when Luke was announced that he took the lightning bolt from Zeus when they went on that trip was not surprising. Not because I thought it was him, but I thought "okay, so?" there was no element of surprise or any reason to think "OH MY GOD WHAT (blahblahblah)". There were moments in the books that made me feel any emotion, really. But as I said it could be because I have read books at a higher level that incorporates different aspects of writing and makes you think more, but still not the greatest novel.
