1 year without alcohol! Also 37 weeks so far without caffeine. I am going to keep pushing as I am feeling great without either of these in my body. It is amazing after a bit of time goes by how you don’t miss them. #findyourbalance (at Frisco, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CNxE3ErjP_r/?igshid=11pabd7b5defz

Don’t set goals for 2021. Set your habits instead. Goals are not specific enough and are not action related, but habits are. For example, you may have a goal to exercise more in 2021. Or maybe you even have a goal to exercise daily in 2021. That still wouldn’t be specific enough. You need to first ask yourself why you didn’t exercise more in 2020. Perhaps you were too busy during the day and too tired at night. An early morning workout program would solve that. But maybe you don’t get up early. This would require specific habit changes to make it happen. Go to bed earlier, so you can still sleep 8 hours, and get up early to workout before the craziness of the day begins. Maybe you need to set your alarm up across the room so you actually have to get up out of bed to turn it off. While the goal was to exercise more, it actually required several different specific action related habit changes to make it happen. When Covid-19 started hitting us in the US in the Spring of 2020, I decided to quit drinking alcohol for immune system health, recovery, and long term health purposes. I didn’t just make a goal to stop drinking though...I actually had to change some habits. I liked to drink a glass or two of wine each night to unwind. I created a new habit of an evening walk instead. I also “treat” myself to a glass of sparkling water if I feel like something different than regular water. Now after 37 weeks without alcohol, I don’t use it to relax anymore, I go for a walk and enjoy some sparkling water instead. #habitsnotgoals #findyourbalance myboosthealth.com (at Frisco, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CJhCQL3DQHb/?igshid=7rlg4mrim7ms

I did my run this morning in a fasted state. Why? Because I like my body to tap into fat stores for energy. It is also very beneficial to give the body a rest from constantly digesting food. I recommend 16 hour daily fasts and 8 hour feeding window based on the research in intermittent fasting. Many of my clients are seeing loss in body fat and gains in muscle. They are training fasted, doing a balanced program of strength and cardio, and eating nutrient dense foods. Most importantly they have intelligently designed programming based on their goals and they are accountable to a coach. Curious to see if it would work for you? Now is the best time to check it out...with a 2 week free trial you have absolutely nothing to lose! 20 weeks no alcohol. 5 weeks no coffee. I have honestly never felt more balanced and, perhaps most importantly, in control. Substances don’t control me. I don’t feel like I “have to have” my glass of wine at night or cup of coffee in the morning. It is freedom. It is control. I am not trying to shame anyone or brag about this accomplishment. I am not suggesting it is for everyone. Nor am I saying I am super tough or have awesome willpower. I am merely attempting to inspire. I will share the whole story on the #boosthealthpodcast soon. #findyourbalance mytrainingboost.com myboosthealth.com (at Frisco, Texas) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEprYrijdSO/?igshid=r702b4mimn9x
