Had a dream about a story set in a post-apocalyptic future where a version of marriage vows survived and it was even called marriage but the context had changed to more of a vow of alliance/protection with no romantic connotation and you could deploy it as often as you wanted, so the main character *did* marry the love interest but that was after marrying like five other people in rapid succession and he wasn't even around, it was just a dramatic moment where she was vowing to get them all out of a nasty situation they'd been captured in, and I remember even in my dream thinking lol this is gonna make the shippers so mad
