Maybe this was spotted back in 2019, but this episode of the Elis & John podcast (John being uber Queen fan John Robins) includes an interview with Spike Edney as an ‘unsung hero’. He says some of the obvious things about his role with Queen, and talks about Live Aid - though having seen the actual rehearsal footage I think he plays down how much effort the band put into their set. But maybe they put that much effort into everything as opposed to a special effort for Live Aid.
John also asks about socialising with the band, and this is the bit that caught my attention. Spike says that sometimes because he’s talking to them about stuff all the time, he forgets how famous they are, and so he says ‘let’s go for a drink after the show’ and they point out that that they can’t just nip out to a bar, and if they do go out, they have to plan it and it involves being smuggled out through the kitchens and so on…
Throws an interesting light on the photos of the times Roger and Brian have gone out with the group in recent years and the planning that has to go into that

speculating on rockstar’s sexualities is basically one of my favorite hobbies but you can’t tell people about this unless you know they’re with it

I'm normal and can be trusted around music. I would never pick a song and put it on repeat for hours on several occasions

As a musician: gig face is a thing, you’re fine, it’ll cost you musically to try and hide it, eat anyone who tells you it looks bad, gl ily
!!!! thank you I'll go eat them <3
#maybe i won't eat my parents but i might take a little bite out of my old guitar teachers. as a treat#you're so right though it's so distracting to try and pay attention to what your face is doing while playing a musical instrument!#as if i haven't got enough to do in that moment come onnnn

This makes me emotionally unstable
#sometimes i think about being told again and again as a kid/teen#'when you're playing the guitar for other people remember to smile! you're performing!'#and then i grow up and discover that world-famous guitarist brian may is also out here going 😦#brian may

I was in the café of the palm garden in Frankfurt the other day, rounded a corner looking for a place to sit and got mildly jumpscared because suddenly these four were staring at me from the wall 😂 right above a free table, too!

There were couple of pictures on the wall there showcasing various concerts that had been held in the garden over the years, including this one on 4 December 1974.

#queen#queen band#freddie mercury#brian may#roger taylor#john deacon#who doesn't get a mention in the article! sorry john#mine#this was such a delightful thing to stumble across actually
