Because yeah at the end of the day I do wonder if Eliot really thinks Nate is a good man. If Nate thinks Eliot is a good man. It's so wild to me that Nate would sooner see himself as a monster than look at Eliot like that. Eliot calls Nate his second good man but in so many respects Nate is his most naive with Eliot Spencer. He says Nate saved him, which is true, but I think Nate saved Eliot the way a stray cat saves a suicidal twenty-something. I don't think Nate tried to save Eliot, I don't even think Nate understood that Eliot needed saving, because in his mind Eliot is the guy who pulls him down from the ledge, not the other way around.
I could actually write pages and pages on how Eliot and Nate's relationship actually changed parts of my brain chemistry. Like. "Call off your dog?" What a fucking line. Nate is the dog. Nate would chase a dead man to the ends of the earth if Eliot let him. Eliot calls Nate to heel and Nate lets him because what else can you do when a man like that takes you in? They're holding each others' leashes and taking notes on how to bury each other's bones.
#look they match each others' freak but in a very specific way that I cannot really articulate okay#yes sophie and sterling and maggie are all tied into this somehow. no i cannot describe to you how#exactly one person understood this dynamic from the getgo however it was tara cole and she was not impressed#nate ford#eliot spencer#leverage

if you don't do anything else today,
Please have a moment of silence for the people who were killed instead of freed when news of emancipation finally reached the furthest corners of the american south.
have another moment for the ledgers, catalogs, and records that were burned and the homes that were destroyed to hide the presence of very much alive and still enslaved people on dozens of plantations and homesteads across the south for decades after emancipation.
and have a third moment for those who were hunted and killed while fleeing the south to find safety across the border, overseas, in the north and to the west.
black people. light a candle, write a note to those who have passed telling them what you have achieved in spite of the racist and intolerant conditions of this world, feel the warmth of the flame under your hand, say a prayer of rememberance if you are religious, place the note under the candle, and then blow it out.
if you have children, sit them down and tell them anything you know about the life of oldest black person you've ever met. it doesn't have to be your own family. tell them what you know about what life was like for us in the days, years, decades after emancipation. if you don't know much, look it up and learn about it together.
This is Juneteenth.
white people CAN interact with this post. share it, spread it.

One of my favorite things about Put Baby In Pelican Mouth is that not only does the pelican have the intelligence necessary to speak human language but also knows how to lie, suggesting it has a theory of mind, yet not enough to understand that no one is going to put baby in pelican mouth.

i was at an event last night in california and i went to the bar to order wine bc wine was like, a thing, and i looked at the menu and saw i was completely out of my depth bc idk any wine names, so i turned to my right and there was a man in a gorgeous suit standing at the bar beside me and i said “do you know anything about wine?” and he said “a little, yes!” i told him i liked white and dry wines and asked if he’d order for me. he asked the server for two glasses and had one poured for each of us and then he clinked his glass on mine but he didn’t take a sip, he just watched me taste mine and then he asked what i thought and i said “it’s pretty good, but like i said, i wouldn’t know.” he laughed and told me to have a good time & i walked away. fifteen minutes later i found out he’s the winemaker.

Maybe I am the way that I am because growing up in my household we'd often see how close we could get to someone before they realized that we were there and with creaky floors this was a real challenge

Pizza Index strikes again.
Trump is trying to play this like he and his administration had no knowledge of Israel's attack on Iran, but the Index never lies.

These are some interesting quotes from Coogler about Remmick's Irishness in the film, so my main takeaways are
Remmick's Irishness is not the jab at the Irish specifically that one might assume it is
His pitch sounding tempting and people in the audience buying into it is a feature, not a bug and, most importantly
That rendition of Rocky Road to Dublin was, indeed, supposed to fuck as hard as it did
None of which is to discount any of the shit i or others have talked about Remmick, it just makes him more nuanced. Although, crucially, it doesn't actually answer the question of whether or not he truly believes in his "Loving Community" pitch. Personally, i like to think he does because idk a fucking lunatic who genuinely believes he's doing the right thing is more sympathetic but somehow, at the same time much fucking scarier than just a selfish grifter

I find it very funny how in Snafu, Lilo assumes that the reason Jumba and Pleakley say they don't understand love is because they're aliens. And she's all "Well, on Earth..."
Like. Girl. I know you're 7 but. It's not because they're aliens.
