today I (Remi) am focusing on my web and cloud security work, which is analysing a start up business and trying to identify their vulnerabilities and weaknesses. it's a big assignment and I feel like I'm going round in circles, but thankfully I'll be done with it within a week!

I dare you to say it

A little background. Me and a coworker of mine are both Hispanic, except I have a darker complexion and shes much lighter skinned. I speak Spanish, she does not. Understands it but doesn’t speak it. Cool? Cool.

Lady comes up to coworker speaking Spanish. She gives her a mildly panicked look and turns to me, and I tell the lady that she doesnt speak Spanish but I’d be happy to help her. She then starts speaking English, acting very surprised that she doesn’t, and stays near my coworkers side of the counter getting her to help. I shrug and go back to whatever I was doing. Me and my coworkers computers are t feet apart so i overhear this woman start speaking Spanish to her again. I’m a little confused but minding my business. Coworker tells her again, that she doesnt speak Spanish, and the lady shuts up for a few minutes. This is where it gets crazy.

This woman tells my coworker that wow, she must get so many people asking her for help in Spanish. She looks a little off put and says no not really. This woman turns to me, and says “you dont look like you speak Spanish”. At this point I’m just staring at my computer screen and just go “ok” without looking at her cuz I wasnt sure where this was going. She starts off “you look like you’re-” and I whip my head around to stare her down.(now, I’ve been mistaken as different races many times. It doesnt offend me, sometimes it’s an honest mistake. This however…) shes giving me this absolutely disgusted look and I very casually just “you wanna go ahead and finish that sentence or??” And she just huffs and looks away. Bitch I will fight you.
