Rant about Riverdale because I believe I’m the only one that feels this way.

What Archie did yesterday was not okay. What Betty did yesterday was not okay either. I want to focus on Archie for a second.

Archie was raped by Grundy in S1. He was manipulated by a teacher and she used him and hurt him emotionally. After that, he bounced from Valerie, being confused about Betty for a brief moment, and wanting Veronica.

Archie saw his father be shot and then was manipulated by Hiram, his gf’s dad. He was trying to please her and he wanted to do something that he thought would be good. He was vulnerable after Grundy and after watching his father be shot by his neighbors father.

Archie was sent to jail. He was then put in an unwarranted boxing and was hurt physically and emotionally. He then left Riverdale because he felt lost, was attacked by a bear, came back a different person because he was lost. He saw his childhoods friends dad get shot. (This was obviously much harder for Betty but this was probably a triggering situation for him considering his father was shot.)

Archies father died. His best friend. The person he could count on the most. The person that had his back unconditionally. His best friend, Jughead, then went to a different school. He was more lost and confused. Then, he and Betty found themselves feeling nostalgic and kissed. A few days later, she told him they needed to end whatever it was, they were going through. Leaving him more lost and confused.

I’m not condoning cheating in anyway. Jug and Ronnie deserve better for sure. But I think it’s unfair to say Archie is the worst person in this situation. He said he loves Jughead & Veronica. He has been there for so many people on the show because he, like Fred, are the type of people to take a bullet (literally) for anyone.

He is now going to the military because he’s incapable of dealing with his feelings.

I guess what I’m trying to say is, yes Archie was in the wrong (there have been so many posts about Betty and what she is going through hence me ranting about Archie) , but don’t forget where he came from. He’s been in a very rough spot. We all know the show refuses to acknowledge mental health. I think we need to be a bit more empathetic to him.
