Y'know, I know Lauren Faust said that unlike Celestia and Luna, Twilight wasn't immortal... but I almost like the idea that Twilight is, and that she makes new friends over time.

I had many friends as a kid. I am only friends with one person from even my teen years now. Friendships age, they grow, and change, and many of them don't last. I wish that was something I had learned growing up, that most friendships would be wonderful in their time, but not eternal.

Maybe one or two of Twilight's friends would ascend. Cadence, for one, is an alicorn and an important person to her. She'd make new friends over and over, and yeah, she'd mourn over and over. I don't think there was a single friendship that faded or broke or grew sick until it went away that I haven't mourned, even though all those people are still out there in the world somewhere.

That's the story I like to tell to myself, anyway. But that's why fanfiction is so wonderful. You can tell yourself, and the world, the story you most need written.

For what it's worth, @puzzled-pegasus , I'd love to hear your story, where they all become princesses and get to spend the rest of all their lives together, in good company. This is not pressure to write it, but if it helps at all, I think that's a story a lot of us need to hear, too.

And if it's not one you can write right now - even the shortest flash fiction or poem - then don't worry. Someone will. Plenty already have. The way friendship is forever - whether literally, figuratively, or only in our memories - that's a story important to most of us, I think.

Applejack, goddess of orchards and agriculture, spreading good harvest of each crop as she walks, turning the seasons with her hooffalls

Fluttershy, goddess of the wild lands and animals everywhere. Wherever she steps, biomes explode into being. Her tears can heal the most grievous of wounds. Her mere presence is what drives the mating seasons of various beasts (as an act of preservation and conservation)

Pinkie Pie, goddess of mirth and joy. Where she walks there is no sadness. She also brings comfort to the grieving with soft reminders of happy memories with their loved ones, not taking their sense of loss from them but merely reminding them of the joy that causes the grief to be so profound, and in so doing, easing it.

Rainbow Dash, goddess of storms and weather. She does not walk the earth but rather the reaches of the sky. The most fickle of the goddesses, the weather changes with her mood as much as for the needs of ponies, and just like she can provide rains in a drought, she can bring storms to calm seas.

And Rarity, most unlike all the rest, goddess of gemstones and craft. She slumbers deep beneath the earth. Her dreams form veins of precious stone and metal, and her nightmares form earthquakes and cave-ins. Her spirit runs through the night, accompanying Princess Luna to provide dreams of inspiration to all those who create with their hands.

(Honestly, I'd love to make a sub-AU of your AU with your permission, credit to you ofc, skyscrapergods. I'm genuinely so obsessed with the concept.)

Rather than these being redesigns, I like to think of them as different versions of Twilight Sparkle. The dark blue/purple one is Lumen Nova; glasses one is Twila Shine; and the last one currently doesn't have a name lol. I'm still thinking about it. I love them all 🥺💖
