Hope you enjoy! Let me know what you think.
And if you have the opportunity, please buy the original paper or digital volume to support Sensei!
Check out the pinned master post at the top of my page to find all my other MR scanlations!
Digital version of MR Vol.4 goes on sale starting September 6!
Here is a list of sites where the digital version can be purchased, with links.
However, because I live in Japan I'm not sure which are available overseas, some of them might only accept Japanese cards and payment methods even if you use a VPN (cos a lot of Japanese businesses are very short-sighted regarding foreign custom!🙄).
If any of them work for you, please let me know in the comments!😊
New tweet from Fusanosuke-sensei (for J-Garden event on 8th of October):
"This is how I'm working on the sourvenir booklet during my break (*╹◡╹)و✧
Don't throw out the paper obi from the manga or your receipt, bring them with you!
I might be able to do something for the people buying the ebook too, I'm thinking about how to deliver it."
(Sadly I can't go 'cos I'm already going to a concert in Osaka that day. Hopefully can get my hands on the booklet sometime!)
“I got samples of the special goods from ComiComi Studio!
Was a bit unsure which one to choose, but I’m going with the brighter Colour 3 closest to me.” (the one on the right-hand side)
Hi!! I’ve been trying to find an answer for this around but haven’t had any luck thus far, so I figure I’d ask the maiden rose expert haha. Where does Vol 3 fit into the main story? For some reason I’ve been a bit confused and haven’t been able to parse what exactly it is—it doesn’t seem to pick off where the original story left off at the en do Vol 2, and seems somewhat like vignettes? I’m not quite sure but maybe I’m just not terribly observant, haha.
Could you perhaps explain what Vol 3 is in the grand scheme of the Maiden Rose story? Sorry if this is a silly question!
Hello, and thanks for your question!
This I can maybe actually help with. I also initially found the chronology of the Vol.3 first half chapters confusing when they were published in ihr Hertz, but luckily after discussion with the MR Discord group I got them clear XD
So: The “present-day” first half of Vol.3 takes place just a little while after the events of Vol.2. We know because we can see Duchess Theodora and Berkut still being detained at the Reizen winter residence, and Hasebe is annoyed that he can’t interrogate them. Then we get a page with Taki commanding his men to investigate the murders on the train and dredge everything up.
What we also know is that there’s another event that took place after the train adventure but before the enemy attack at the beginning of Vol.3. That event is whatever gave Taki the injuries Klaus finds when he strips him in the shower, and Klaus is extremely worried because he doesn’t clearly remember what happened to Taki. However, he suspects, and that’s why he takes Taki to Suguri to demand answers.
THEN when Klaus talks to Suguri we find out that it was Klaus who hurt Taki while he was delirious. We then go into a flashback of when Klaus was injured after the train adventure, discussing with Suguri whether to give him morphine or not. And him asking Suguri not to let Taki near him (which he now knows Suguri must have, hence Taki’s injuries).
And from that flashback we return to the second half, their first meeting and the night drill at Luckenwalde. The chapter right at the end before Pawpads is a scene of when Klaus and Taki first arrive back in Taki’s country.
So to summarize, ignoring the order of the chapters themselves, the chronology of the main story in Vol.3 is:
Klaus is injured after Hasebe’s torture in Vol.1/the train adventure in Vol.2. Declines morphine from Suguri and asks him to keep Taki away.
Suguri demands intimate information in return from Klaus.
While delirious, Klaus attacks Taki (the details of that content will come later, with the Thorn Crown chapters that haven’t been published yet).
Shortly afterwards, there is an attack by the Western Alliance. After the battle, Klaus notices that Taki has unexplained injuries.
They return to base, see Theodora and Berkut, Hasebe acts like an asshole, and Taki tells everyone to leave him alone.
Klaus corners Taki in the shower, sees the extent of his injuries, and drugs him.
Carries him to Suguri and demands to know why Suguri broke his promise and let Taki near him.
