In stillness I feel myself slipping away
To the person I don´t want to be.
The centre of my own perception at all times.
Raven soothes this misery
my head wrapped in slippery black silk.
Rene Magritte with a flower of fabric on my face.
Taxes will kill me tough.

This is one of my favourite poems by Peter Redgrove. It was published in "From the Virgil Caverns".
For me personally, the text combines a simple observation of the similarities of a lighthouse and a lawn sprinkler and a greater meaning about the circular motion of change. Light and soft mist cross paths in the silence under the round moon. I love the simple and precise language that describes this mundane scenario in great detail. Modern and ancient technology also collide here, the lighthouse and the lawn sprinkler both sending out beams and water droplets out in the night air. I feel at ease and calm when reading this poem.

Sich ändert die Gestalt?
Die Fähigkeit zu Lust und Leid
Vergeht wohl nicht so bald.

I shot this picture with my iPhone camera on the Geiser Berg near Ketten on November 25th 2023 while on a walk. You can see the hills behind Walkes are shrouded in cloudy fog. It just started to snow.
