« Specific acts commonly perpetrated against women in prostitution and pornography are the same as acts specified in definitions of torture, for example verbal sexual harassment, forced nudity, rape, sexual mocking, physical sexual harassment such as groping, and not permitting basic hygiene. The psychological consequences of these acts of sexual violence are the same whether it is named state-sponsored torture or prostitution (Sveaass, 2023). »
« Coerced sex acts often occurred in the context of the sex buyer or pimp pointing to pornography, demand-ing, ‘See this? Do that.’ More than half (59%, 26/44) reported emotional distress when a sex buyer pressured her to perform an act that he had seen in pornography. Three-quarters (76%, 34/45) of the women we interviewed had pornography made of their prostitution. »
