SOGIE BILL AWARENESS
SOGIE bill stands for sexual orientation and gender identity equality bill. SOGIE Bill, as opposed to the belief of many, is a bìll for everybody. Every single one of us, since the day we were born up until now, has their own sexual orientation and gender identity. It is just that, in some cases, their SOGI differs from what it used to be. Due to this, all of us are protected in this part of the law. LGBTQ+ is an abbreviation for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transexual, queer and etc. It is a group composed of different genders aside from the usual sex, male or female. A lot of people believe that SOGIE Bill is for the members of LGBTQ+ only. I'm afraid they don't know what they're saying. During the entry of the 21st Century, roles are slowly changing. The education that was for men become a basic right today. The works that are only exclusive for men are the works that have females in the field today. The past roles of women carrying children and taking care of the house is a role that can be played by a man today. A lot has happened since then and a lot are still happening. People are trying to correct their past mistakes by making things equal for every gender. Men are looked up to by everybody. A lot of them suppressed their emotions because they are men. They can't cry because they are supposed to be masculine and the strong one. The one that never cries when bad things happen. I want them to feel their feelings. I want them to know that it's always okay to show vulnerability. It is okay to be comforted. It is okay to cry and be weak. To seek comfort and to ask help whenever something turns out to be bad. This bill would help them feel more because they will know. They will know they are not alone. That there are a lot of people like them, suffering and masking their emotions because of gender roles. Maybe if we let our boys to feel, the world will become a better place. Women and men are raped every single day. This should be our wake up call. That everyone should have equal rights. Men have rights, not only the women and children. Gays, lesbians, trans, queer, questioning people should have equal rights.

The Power of Social Media
Social media has been a powerful tool for everyone. It is not only used for entertainment. It is also used for needs. Social Media can be a market place, a site to post anything anyone wants and a place to meet new people. It has become a vital part of everyone’s life that only a few don’t have an account yet.
Social media has been a huge necessity for every family. Back in the day, people use telegram to communicate. Today, people don’t even need wifi and load anymore. Networks are offering free data to people that makes communication easier. It has become a medium that bonds families but sometimes diversifies it too. It helped stay-at-home moms have their own business, just a click away.
Social media has not only helped families but also social workers. When the super typhoon Yolanda fell in our country, Google developed a site called people finder. A person can look for another person and provide information about them. It made social worker and volunteer’s job easier to do. As social media, once again, made people united.
Social media also had a fair share of contribution in our history. During the EDSA Revolution one, radio had been a medium to spread words about the revolution. At EDSA Revolution II, text brigades were used to gather people and start another revolution. At Million People March, change.org site was use to spread information about the pork barrel incident. Social Media played a huge role in the Philippine’s government. It fought oppression and set the citizens free from corruption (that’s sadly, back again). This proves that Social Media was and is still a huge significant to each and everyone of us.
