You set foot on a wide field in Naglfar, various hills stretch and fall around you, the castle of Falias in the horizon behind you. Various bushes and trees sprout solitarily, occasional mice and marten hurry and rush between the guarding sprouts and a forests nearby to avoid the buzzard circling above. Occasionally you can see small batches of foam growing from the ground, a native species rummaging the ground for water and nutrients, not unlike a plant, but when disturbed, will jump up and scatter into masses of bubbles that made up its body.
If you’re lucky you might see a varying degree of creatures, animals not unlike your own world, maybe guardians, like the rumored Raurackl. A forest far from here is even said to house mythical beasts like the Qilin, but for the common human, these might as well not exist.

Current Naglfar monster concepts:
Light-Elemental foam slime. Just a slime consisting of pure, white bubbles. They really like water too! Cute little fellas~ ♪
Dark-Elemental pink blob. Can fly not quite unlike a dragonfly. Very adaptable. Might or might not be reminiscent of Yomi from Terranigma.

A quick doodle of one of the main villains, a scientist named Albert. He’s an old colleague of Zacharias. He’s a more controlled personality, extremely calculated and values logic over emotion. Quite the contrast to Zacharias, who’s easily excited. He also prefers his lab-environment, while Zach likes to study out in nature. They still both specialise in biology.
I need to give him some more details to work with next time, but drawing him out was already pretty neat-

Daryll, the young paladin, who took off when he was promised the happiness he’s been longing for, for all his life.
Nyr and Sieg, also known as Nyria Friedrich and Siegmund Friedrich, Daryll’s squad members from the academy, who went out to search for him, instead of reporting him as deserter or missing, while miraculously managing to stay hidden despite Sieg’s obvious, outstanding beastkin-ness as a Lamia.
Tumblr media
Susan, who claims to have come from some mountains to the north, formerly thought to be uninhabited, except for some very brave dwarfs. Convinced Nyr and Sieg to look for Daryll somehow, otherwise they’d’ve turned their backs on him.
Tumblr media
Glennoth, also called Glenn, who picked up on the group on his search for strong warriors. Had a fierce bout with Nyr at first and seems to keep a secret with him ever since. He has an immense interest for blacksmithing and ores, his hobby is to patch up armor he “finds” around places. His true intent is to look for his mother, who has gone missing ever since his hometown was raided. He claims to be an ogre, a race of hulking giants known for their strenght, but is actually barely the size of a small, regular human.
Tumblr media
Krysta, a magician who seems to have adopted Susan, along with an undead feline beastkin called Mirus, of whom she ensures is harmless. They first met when defending a town under siege, of which the men were strangely unresponsive at first, worrying their wifes, well, the girls in general to a great extend.
Mirus, said cat. Doesn’t seem to have the same origin as the common, strolling around undead, which have been on the rise recently. He keeps very tight clothes which, at times, seem to be the only thing holding his rugged body together. Krysta stitches him sometimes, as healing magic doesn’t have much of an effect. Prefers to eat grass, fruits and berries, worrying about frenzying like other undead.
Tumblr media
Niamh, local idiot. Didn’t even find a cover-name, but angelic names are common enough among the populace. Went looking for Shou after hearing she was sort of amnesiac and doesn’t have many other reasons to be here. Her twin brother Caireall is attending to the matter the two of them were originally assigned to.
Tumblr media
Phobos, apparently high-ranking commander among the more intelligent undead forces. Appearing less like a zombie, but more like a mutant. His right arm is a bulging mass of cells, which produces bones to fight and is sometimes fused with other zombies or mutants to heal them. Little is known about him, but he somewhat resembles an old instructor of the academy who went missing.
Deimos, Phobos’ most trusted partner. A hulking armor, larger than some ogres and barely capable of speech. However, the two seem to converse regularly.
Kage, formerly known as Zacharias, an old recluse scientist who fused himself with a species of mountain-lion to obtain superhuman strenght. He says the means of such scratch at his humanity however. Claims to have discovered the secrets of all earthly biology, but no one understood enough to retell it however. He also claims that all life is connected at the same root.
Saichi, also an undead, or mutant, rather. Barely recognisable as an elf. His heart and one eye have been overtaken by a flower, as well as his lims which appear to be branches or vines.
Tumblr media
Sarriah, an elf who fell into despair when her husband disappeared. She kept disrupting society at home and when a certain memory-altering spell stopped working on her, she was cast out to accompany the party on their endeavours instead. Has been staying close to Kage and Saichi, however, she cannot seem to remember why.
Taesye Seomun, younger brother of the King of the Forest, who was sent along to learn about manners.
Tumblr media
Helen Ragnfrid, Daryll’s little sister who seems to have died when their homely manor caught fire. Unable to pass on, she’s absorbed the spirits of her older sisters and occasionally... “assists”. With “things”.
Tumblr media
Aldea Shirasagi. Both names given to her by herself. A wandering beastkin who recognised the angelic power residing within Susan, Niamh and Taesye due to her own, slowly amassing, divinity. Since then tags along, proves useful but isn’t very well-liked. Former “slave” who’s well-known and -versed around certain merchant communes.
Tumblr media
Caireall Seonaidh, doesn’t care about cover names but occasionally calls himself just “Cai”. Foul-mouthed cynic who also isn’t very well-liked and cares about Niamh above all else. Was busy investigating the merchant nation for information.

Pretty sure a whole shit-fuckton of people died when amassing on such rather small landscapes. The surface of the planet definitely got screwed down to less than half of what it originally was.
Do I need to include that? I’m sure you can imagine. Thinking about the past is fun, still so many things to work out~ ♪

There’s 2 major forces residing on Naglfar as of now, the Forest of the World Tree at the continents’ center and splitting the, slightly larger, kingdom to the south from the merchant’s nation to the north.
The kingdom is a mostly monarchic region, the royal family of Padraigin have reigned for peace and prosperity for years. They are regulating wealth, power and affairs of the people in a just manner that lots of countries would be jealous of. The king is often buried in work, while the princess tends to the lands to have order prosper. This is also where knights and mages are being trained, at the academy in the capital city of Falias. The church of Heaven and Earth also sees the city as its capital, however, ever since a great war with monarchy a few hundred years ago, they’ve kept to themselves.
The other nation is the Merchant’s Conglomeration to the north. There is little info about the merchants’ guild that governs the place but it’s widely assumed that it’s whoever is most in power at the moment. It’s a place where anyone can become anything, or any less if they prove unlucky enough. Those daring enough can make a huge profit, but for the sake of consumerism, the people themselves have been suffering to an extend. Nothing is forbidden to sell, as long as it brings profit. This includes drugs, slaves, whatever you call it.
At the same time, it means that your name or heritage doesn’t matter as much as under the monarchy and it’s easily possible for a slave to rise up and make their own name, should they prove proficient or cunning enough. Lots of beastkin prefer to live with the merchants for that reason, since the monarchy is largely human-influenced.

Following the Segregation
Formerly, I had roughly put to words what the creation myth of Naglfar would most likely be like, that was in these two drabbles.
This here ought to summarise how different peoples reacted to having their lands torn apart and sink into themselves, but there really isn’t much to tell. Lots of immigration, sometimes wars happened, all to flee the dying lands. It wasn’t hard to tell that the lands kept steady around the few remaining scattered world-trees, so population mostly gathered on those continents, until they reached a point where ruination came to halt.
What was left was both astonishing and frightening. An enormous cloud of darkness loomed several miles beneath the cliffs, formerly places that living beings once called their home. People who went to explore the dark fog returned deathly sick or at least weakened. Some proclaimed it too dangerous, while some rather tried to appease the darkness by calling it their new god. More about that another time however.
As soon as people were secluded enough and didn’t have to worry about invaders anymore, there was the question about the future. It is very likely that more advanced civilisations managed to provide a more promising future by bulding floating cities, either through magic or science. Naglfar unfortunately isn’t among them and doesn’t quite have the resources to do so either. Leading scientists are however exploring what none else have attempted - to seek life within the ruinous death that lies beyond the continent’s cliffs. Research is going steady, according to head researcher Albert, he claims to have found a lead, so that living within the Abyss might be possible in several years.

Creation Myth according to Oracle Myrell (Part 1/2)
„There once was a little girl, Gaia was her name. She drifted in a wide empty space, forsaken and alone. When the distant sun caressed her back, she cried herself to sleep. When the caring sun faced her front, it dried her tears. However, as warm as its light was, they were too far to ever talk. So Gaia was left alone, for centuries.”
I don’t want this.
“Gaia was sobbing in tears one night, just when the sun sent its last rays and her tears started flowing.”
I am all alone. If only I could life the life inside me, just a little. I wish I wasn’t lonely anymore.

Summary of the cast? For DnD?? Maybe???
Original Content does steal. I have not much clue about DnD for now tho.
Tumblr media
My go-to option. Siusaidh Riona/Susan Edevane/Shou Shukuya
Hopelessly gay bard/druid hybrid Protector Aasimar as I’ve been told.
In the original story (further: Naglfar-Lore) she‘s an angel, reborn from a human that ended an alternate/original timeline. She had false memory implanted to protect the new mind from trauma and believes to be from a mountain village monastery far up north, having been sent to the plot by visions.
Her goal in Naglfar Lore is to keep her original from screwing the timeline again. If that isn’t applicable, her goal is simply to reach happiness for herself or maybe others.
Alignment: Chaotic Good/Neutral
Tumblr media
Someone I should work out: Aldea Shirasagi
Something of a bard / Con-Artist, in Naglfar Lore she’s basically a half- aarakocra with all the downsides - no talons, and a pair of wings instead of her arms.
Without any means to hold weapons, her skills consist of charming people, lesser wind-based magics and trickery.
Born unfortunate as she was, she was eventually left behind at an ambush - much to the distraught of her parents. Sold to slave-traders and later a brothel, she believed herself to have been left by the gods in a prayer. As answer, she was given the ability to manipulate empathy, which she since then used to amass a following and, one day, rise to the rank of a god herself.
Alignment: Neutral Evil
Tumblr media
My favourite girl, also originally Yuki/Haku’s OC: Niamh “Nieve” Seonaid!
Technically a Protector Aasimar as well, but has Aquakinesis-abilities to qualify her as Water Genasi as well? Also technically a water-based sorcerer that uses her abilities to wield a giant-ass sword? How does this woman work.
[MUSIC ON]
What is it you want to accomplish with your life? Find a lost love? Fight for JUSTICE to prevail in this world? Whatever the means to instill LIGHT and HOPE deep within your soul, this woman will give her life, body and all to inspire and FIGHT for those she and others care about!
Her body might be weak and frail, but her soul of RIGHTEOUSNESS drives her further and further beyond her limits. What is Heroism if not surpassing your fears? Your nightmares? A true HEROINE wouldn’t be limited by nonsense like that! You do the good you can do today, and if not, you do it tomorrow as well! That is the duty you live for!
Uhh... yeah, that.
Originally a human and lover of the one who caused the timeline-end mentioned in Shou’s section. The -in her eyes- unrequited love made her long for a protector and thus, her soul was split intwo, to create her Brother, Caireall. And so split were their abilities and personality, it’s a long story in total which shall be mentioned another day.
Alignment: Lawful Good
Tumblr media
The other half and, finally, a boy! Caireall “Cai” Seonaid.
Race: Whatever Niamh is. Class? Probably Monk??
While Niamh got the ability of Aquakinesis from THE ORIGINAL™, Caireall can create water. With his weapon of choice being a staff, he mostly focuses on physical combat and occasionally throws his opponents off using spontaneously created spikes of ice or steaming water to throw them off. Even without that he’s a force to be reckoned with, however, since he can also control Ki to an extend.
He is a stoic, serious man whose peace of mind is admirable, unlike his tongue, which spits and spites in every conceivable direction. At his core, he doesn’t really care all that much about anything except his sisters’ safety. To protect her is a purpose that was burned into his soul, after all.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral, bordering to Chaotic Evil
Tumblr media
More boys while we’re at it! Glennoth is the name.
Race: Half-Ogre/Oni in Naglfar, Likely Half-Orc in DnD Class: Barbarian
Ogres in Naglfar are a humanoid race that’s been imbued by the elements of earth, which by itself makes small and stury dwarfs, and fire, which inverts and twists the elemental characteristics, making Ogres powerful and volatile giants. Half-Ogres however are known to lose much of their fiery characteristics, making them small in size and clearer of their senses, however not much less powerful than the full thing.
Glenn’s hometown has been destroyed in a raid while he himself was out on a journey. Ever since coming to know of his homes’ fate, he has been steeling himself and challenging powerful warriors around the continent, while on the search for his mother, whom he deems too cunning and powerful to have fallen just like that.
Despite his battle-thriving nature, he follows his own code and has an immense interest in craftsmanship, especially blacksmithing.
Alignment: Lawful Neutral
Tumblr media
And back to the girls! This one is Helen Ragnfrid
Race: Human (Ghost? Lich?!) Class: Warlock
Using means like summoning and voodoo in Naglfar Lore, this little girl learned most of these things by self-studying.
Having been born the last of 5 children, she has usually been somewhat neglected. The first 3 children, women, were born and raised to be married off, they were haughty and snobbish, not having to carry the burden of the fourth child, a man from the family-head and a lowly housemaid. When Helen was born from the third mother, the family-head had decided to call it a day and name his only son his successor, raising him from servant-status to one to learn how to lead and be his successor.
Having been the only one who shared her sorrow of being only second-choice, a neglected kid, her brother was the only one to whom she could actually have a connection that could be called “friendship”.
As her teens approached, her brother was sent off to learn how to become a Knight, mayhaps even a Paladin. This distraught Helen, making her become a shut-in, further ignored by her father and mocked by her sisters. Turning deeper and deeper into the family library, she one day found a hidden-away room with books on demonic invocations and summonings...
Her youthful mind succumbed to hatred and with newfound knowledge, she burned her manor of birth to ash, enslaving the then-residents and their souls in their afterlife.
...how much of this could even be applied to DnD?!? I don’t even smoke when writing.
Alignment: Chaotic Evil, but young and capable of growth
Tumblr media
Finally an Elf! Sarriah is this ones’ name and she’s emo.
Race: Emo Wood Elf Class: Ranger
Hailing from a tribe that has chosen the maximum-seclusion option: Brainwashing. Hear me out, there’s a tribe of forest-protectors who patrols the outskirts of their territory for invaders and the Elder of the tribe who occasionally does weird mind-memory tricks on everyone to help keep them not interested at all in the outside world.
Sarriah’s husband was one of the protectors, however this was a secret and she believed, they were simply out on trips into the forest, gathering food and supplies. One day however, her husband didn’t return home and she became curious... until she was made to forget. However, it didn’t work as her love for her husband was too strong. What happened? Something isn’t right! Who am I missing every evening beside my single-bed?
After her mind has been proven too strong, she was assigned a protector-post herself, but gradually remembering the features of her husband made her leave and look for the truth in the outside world.
A longer drabble about the days of the elves can be found here.
Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

The Family history of the woman Nyria Friedrich goes long past, intertwined in stories of bloodshed. Her Mother who inherited the Trait of the Beast from a long line of Adventurers, like the Hero, Sir Yvain, was proud to know her daughter carrier of this blessing. Nyria was a rowdy child and enormously strong. Always trying to start fights made the common nannies tremble in fear from just her name, when brave adventurers were hired to take care of a little girl they wore haughty smirks, soon blown off their faces.
Her demeanour only changed when she and her father took home a large egg from a business trip. Nyria begged and begged to take it with her and, conscious of her strenght, vowed to protect the thing and treated it with all care she could muster. This is how Siegmund was born, forthon raised as her buttler and bodyguard-
When she grew up and found out she was to be married, she couldn’t bear the duty entrusted to her- just a maiden to be married away for power and influence? She guessed that her father was behind this, having been married to her mother in a similar fashion. However, with Siegmund in tow she decided to leave with a few of her valuables to finance themselves. Living forthon as a man to keep hidden, she did what she could for both of them to survive.
Unbeknownst, Siegmund kept contact with her mother, who was accepting of her choice of not being a plaything, helping them off-track to ensure her future and education, just this time as a knight, similar to her family line.
Nyr and Sieg, newly made knights and forthon part of a squad with a dark-haired man called Daryll.

Alot of things in Naglfar seem bleak, hopeless. People are suffering, the planet itself is dying, there’s no future.
But I still want to convey a feeling of true hope. Sometimes there is a speck of light where you’d least expect it, you just need to find it.
Quintet had lots of moments like I’m looking for in their games. To acchieve a perfect world, yet having no place for yourself in this perfection. A god should be content with people not praying because it shows that the god itself is not needed for the people to be happy. Like a child that grows into an adult and fends for themself.
That’s the kind of feeling I’m looking for.
