Context: In the film, a student was caught popping his oingo boingo through a hole in the girl’s shower room (in typical 80′s movie fashion) and got… grabbed by the girl’s coach. However, only having a visual on the aforementioned boingo, the coach presents an idea to the catch the culprit.

ur telling me batman (a hero whose power is like 65% fear 35% money) has a villain who is all about weaponizing fear and he’s not the main villain? ur telling me batman (man with a secret identity so strong that there are questions of who the real person is at the end of the day and whose entire creed is about stopping One Bad Day™️) has a villain who is his childhood friend that has physically separated his dual violent-nonviolent nature and is all about duality and chance and he’s not the main villain? ur telling me batman (man with strong ideas about the Right Way to stop crime and who emerged from the destruction of his own family structure) has a villain who is his undead son/former sidekick who he couldn’t save and now disagrees with the way to address crime in gotham and he’s not the main villain? ur shitting me about this clown guy right

So, I just love Codot’s version of Jonathan Crane.  If you haven’t listened yet, check out his podcast Codotverse.

Anyways, I eat angst up, and I also love the duality of Jonathan/Scarecrow.  So luckily, Codot was happy to oblige me with some savagery!

He also did the script, which he happens to be a pro at.  All I told him was that I wanted a fear test and some bickering/eventual ceding between Jonathan’s two personas, as well as to make it angsty as possible.  Hahah. ;;

I was lucky enough to snag a commission slot from the incomparable @waiting4codot​ and asked for a Jon cover of Through the Valley by Shawn James, also sung by Ellie in the teaser for Last of Us 2.

Codot always does a great job painting such vivid scenes with vocals alone. I love how Jon changes up the cadence of the song, delivering some lines faster than others, adding pauses and even tweaking the whistle part. It makes it feel really natural, like Jon would sing it on his porch under a Georgia sunset, idly strumming a guitar and not thinking about work or its stresses.

If y’all get the chance, commission this man. Not only is he an utter sweetheart even when it took me hours to give my feedback bc I was out of town but I was also really impressed by the turnaround time! Considering everything on his plate atm, I didn’t expect to get this until Halloween or later, but it only took 3 days??? 10/10 would throw money at again.
