Jaehee didn’t have to look up to know that MC had slid into the chair across from her. The sound of legs scraping against the ground startled her all the same, dragging her out of the story and back into reality. Putting a bookmark to keep her place, she closed it with a smile. “Yes, I can barely put it down.”

“It’s a real page-turner.” MC grinned, cupping her chin with her hands. Her eyes sparkled as she leaned forward. There was a smudge of flour on her cheek, a sign she’d just been baking, and Jaehee resisted the urge to clean it. “You almost done?”

“For my lady.” With a flourish, Zen offered a single red rose. His silver hair gleamed in the morning sun as he kneeled in front of MC at the steps of the castle keep. It was a mixture of public and private, as it was with almost all of his gestures.

She liked that about him, how he was never afraid to show his feelings in public. How he knew how to keep some things private. “Thank you.” With a smile, her fingers curled around the stem. Raising it to her nose, she closed her eyes as a cloying scent swept through her. “It’s beautiful.”

Summary: “This can’t go on much longer,” Rika murmured, pressing a kiss against MC’s wrist. In the distance, a peacock cried mournfully.

Rika woke at dawn, the palest yellows and oranges painting her room. Outside the palace walls, birds chirped cheerfully, eagerly greeting the rising sun. While once she hadn’t known the names for these birds, each one was now a familiar friend. Myna, darzan, basanta, she recalled the words of her adopted tongue as she languidly stretched.

It was too early to be awake, too hard to fall asleep. She rolled over to her side, to MC sleeping soundly next to her. Rika rose to her elbow, playing with the dark brown tresses splayed over the intricately designed pillows, the brown standing out to the reds and yellows that decorated most of the palace. Her fingers skimmed MC’s dark brown skin, the warmth of it rivalling that of the Indian summer heat.

“This can’t go on much longer,” Rika murmured, pressing a kiss against MC’s wrist. In the distance, a peacock cried mournfully.

Sanctity

Fandom: Mystic Messenger Ship: Jumin Han/Zen Rating: General Warnings: None Summary: Being treated like a prize, like an object to be won, made Zen seethe. His reputation as ‘Aphrodite incarnate’ had spread across the lands, drawing royals and nobles from around the globe, making an attempt to win his hand. And not one of them had succeeded. Zen had sworn to himself that he would never give someone his hand in marriage unless they had won his heart first.

But now, that philosophy was out of the window, as Zen had been forced to accept a stranger’s hand in exchange for his vast riches. Worse still Zen had yet to meet his husband to be, and they would be married within the week.

This is my contribution to the @mysmelovethroughtheages zine, I hope you enjoy!

The rising sun brought the waking hustle and bustle of the city, a cacophony able to be heard from Prince Zen’s highest balcony. He surveys the capital with a heavy heart, knowing that after today, things would never be the same.

After years of failed courtships and attempted betrothals, Zen’s mother, the Empress, finally had enough of his reluctance to wed, and as such, arranged a marriage for the crown prince.

Zen couldn’t say this outcome surprised him, but he was far from happy. He knew that his future husband would be just the same as everyone else that had tried (and failed) to woo him.

Being treated like a prize, like an object to be won, made Zen seethe. His reputation as ‘Aphrodite incarnate’ had spread across the lands, drawing royals and nobles from around the globe, making an attempt to win his hand. And not one of them had succeeded. Zen had sworn to himself that he would never give someone his hand in marriage unless they had won his heart first.

It was no secret that their country was beginning to crumble under the strain of financial pressure. Zen’s late father had made many poor choices, leading to an economic downfall. And now it was Zen’s job to pick up the pieces. Next month was his coronation, since turning 21, the ruling of the land would fall to him.

Worse still Zen had yet to meet his husband to be, and they would be married within the week.

In his heart of hearts, he’d always known it was never his fate to marry for love. But it was still a nice thought.

The vast ocean lay beyond the waking city, horizon burning with golden light. Zen spots a ship in the distance, dread filling his heart. His fiance was expected to arrive any day now, and Zen prayed that the ship on the horizon was merely a trading vessel. He would gladly take any amount of freedom he could get before the inevitable.

JuminV Zine is digital Mystic Messenger zine focusing on the platonic and romantic relationship of Jumin Han and V from various stages of their lives together.

We are currently looking for artists, merch artists, and writers to help bring this project to life!

Accepted contributors will be compensated with a free copy of the zine and a full merch bundle. 

Artist and Merch Artist Requirements:

Artists will be expected to draw one full illustration for the zine. Artists may create additional pieces if they choose. Artists may also create a short comic for the zine. Page limits for comics will be discussed with accepted artists at a later date.

Merch artists will be expected to design one or more pieces of merch for the zine.

Please share a link to a google drive folder with 3-5 examples of what you consider to be your best work. Please remember to turn link sharing on so that we will be able to access and view the contents of the folder.

Art samples should be complete pieces. 

Traditional art must be scanned at a high quality.

Artwork in your samples should be no older than 2 years.

You are allowed to submit NSFW artwork in your portfolio but note that the zine is SFW.

Merch artists looking to create stickers or charms should include at least one sample of a character in a chibi style.  

It is not required to have artwork featuring Jumin or V in your portfolio (or any Mystic Messenger fanart for that matter), but we do encourage it.

Writer Requirements

Writers will be expected to write one short story for the zine that is no longer than 3,000 words in length.

Please share 2-3 examples of what you consider to be your best work. If any of your works are shared through Google Drive, please remember to turn link sharing on so that we will be able to read them.

Your writing samples should not exceed 6,000 words in total.

Multichapter fics may be submitted, but only the first chapter will be looked at unless a specific chapter is indicated. 

The writing in your samples should be no older than 2 years.

You are allowed to submit NSFW fics for your writing samples but note that the zine is SFW.  

You must submit at least one fic that features either Jumin or V so that we have a better understanding of how you write them.

You may apply to more than one position and we encourage any and all creators interested to apply! <3

The Space Between Us

I can post my pieces for @mysmelovethroughtheages just in time for Pride, so here’s the first!

You only look at Saeyoung when he’s busy.

Like right now, flashing him a smile that hits him like a kick in the chest, breath whooshing out of his lungs and leaving him staggered. Hands deep in the innards of a mining pod, full of grease and red dust and god knows what else, all he can do is try to return some semblance of a grin. Judging by the way you cover your mouth and your shoulders shake, he must appear quite a sight in his junky jeans and stained shirt, red hair doing whatever it pleases and his glasses slipping down his nose. Not that it matters, since he’ll gladly play the fool just to see your eyes twinkle like that.

You haven’t left yet, instead watching him with a curious head tilt, curly hair bouncing in the breeze. All the attention causes blood to rush to his cheeks, and he allows himself to extract a hand, nudge his glasses up where they belong and wave. Again you giggle and he mourns that he can’t hear that gorgeous sound, the music in his ears overpowering it. Someone else runs up next to your side and you turn away, following them as they tug you toward the side of the settlement you live on. His smile turns bittersweet as he watches, heart filled with the longing to come with you. When you glance over your shoulder and find him staring, you grin and wave, tapping the tip of your nose before rounding a corner to disappear.

But somehow he knows if he can manage to find you when he’s not occupied, he can overcome those barriers. That thought carries him through the rest of the day until he’s standing in front of the mirror in his bathroom, preparing to take a shower. It’s then he notices the dark streak down the center of his nose and groans, leaning forward until his head thunks into the glass.

No wonder you were laughing.

The day has finally arrived! It is with great excitement that we announce that Love Through the Ages: A Mystic Messenger LGBT+ Zine is officially open for pre-orders on our Gumroad! You can reserve your digital copy any time between March 10-May 10. 

The creation of this zine has been close to many of our hearts, as we all longed to bring representation to those who play Mystic Messenger and are members of the LGBTQ+ community. Whether they’ve wished the MC could be closer to themselves or they’ve been busy tweaking their favs via headcanons, the goal of this zine is to reach out to them and give them the feeling of belonging that may have been absent before. Our hope is that through the talent of our creators, we can look beyond the core events of the game and branch out into the different ways the members of the RFA would interact with the public - and each other, of course - throughout the centuries.

Specifically, the theme is the different ways love has been expressed throughout the many different eras of humanity. Love Through the Ages doesn’t just focus on romantic love, however; just as love in itself is a multifaceted emotion, so is this zine! We want to encourage platonic love, familial love, and self-love in addition to the romantic variety. This is a product put together lovingly by both members of the community and cherished allies. Our team is made up of 18 talented artists, 8 amazing writers, one incredible cosplayer and two hard-working graphic designers, all of which poured their very best into the project to bring as much representation as we could. Inside, you’ll find various types of representation: trans, non-binary, lesbian, pansexual, gay, poly. Some pieces feature relationships that take place between the members of the RFA, while others revolve around MC and a RFA member. A few spotlight friendships instead of romance.
