a lot of adaptations depict henry jekyll as a helpless charitable guy tainted by sins, haunted by hyde and unable to suppress him. they paint him as barely responsible for hydes terrible actions and honestly like a victim who can do no harm. WRONG! guys he's a doctor of law. he knows full well what he's doing. sure he's messed up and pathetic but he spends like half of the book just lying and manipulating everyone. you're falling into his trap.....and you're falling into mansfields trap.....
