Chapter 1: Philosophical Perspective the self.
-First of all I believe in God and he made us through his mighty Hand. I don’t know what is life before because all I want is to be happy and to be loved by someone .
As St.Augustine said Self is known only throught knowing God , I thought that we humans must have known God and have relationship with Him because , if I die today and didn’t know God what should I expect ? Yes we have freedom to choose what I want or what you want in your life but we must have known God as well . Our soul came from God and our body and blood is temporary when our time has come the most important thing is to know God .
Chapter 2: Sociological perspective.
-I always keep this quote by Napoleon hill this is very interesting to young people and me as well he said, “whatever your mind can conceive believe it can achieve” all of us have desire in our life , I’m still studying right now all I want is continue how hard life is , I’m not intelligent person but I have a big desire in my life which is to become a doctor ,Yes I’m not brilliant or intelligent like other but I have desire that my plan and goals in life would be fulfilled.
Chapter 3: An Antropological conceptualization of self.
- Each person has their own beliefs or customs depending on what kind of environment they developed in. Those beliefs or customs then shape a person’s mentality and how they interact with the world. Many different characteristics have really shaped me to become who I am today. My personal culture has shaped my own thinking and perception of the world considering that I grew up here in Davao City .
Chapter 4: Psychological Perspective of the self.
-We live in a judgemental society once you doing something wrong they will judge you that’s how the world is unfair is, they only see your mistakes, many people suffer depression or anxiety because of the judgemental , I’m also suffer depression because of my failures But now I overcomed my depression through the word of God, I cannot blame those people who have suffer depression or anxiety I didn’t not judged them because I didn’t know the whole story of their life. Right now I always think about my future many of us want a peaceful life , The best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today always do your best in your life as a youth I prioritize my study and always positive In life as well.
Chapter 5:The western and eastern concept of self.
I would say that the idea of a ‘self’ is just a notion that has been mentally created in order to give ourselves a feeling of identity and purpose. ‘The self’ is really only a product of our evolved consciousness – I personally don’t believe that it exists on any metaphysical, material or spiritual level. ‘The self’ may exist as a product of the mind, in other words, on a psychological level, but in all honesty I think even that definition might be stretching it. I agree with Hume in his reasoning that “we have no real knowledge of a self and so [we] have no justification for claiming that we have a self. What we perceive within ourselves is nothing more than a changing bundle of disconnected sensations” (Velasquez 104). In the end, I feel that David Hume and the Buddha’s views on illusionary nature of ‘the self’ are more rational and realistic.
Chapter 6: The Physical self.
-We all want to look good. However, most of us spend too much space in our minds thinking about our body, food and exercise. Maybe all this focus on your body and eating actually wouldn’t make as much difference to who you are, how you live your life, or how you value yourself.
Chapter 7: The Sexual self.
-We spend a lot of time worrying about technique -- we read books and magazine articles that promise all sorts of results if only you do this or that. And then we spend most of our time in bed worrying about whether we remembered the "right" move. People come in to my office and ask how they can improve technique. My response is to say that they shouldn't worry about what they think their partner thinks of their sexual skills, and should rather just communicate! Talk to your partner. Ask, 'Does what I'm doing feel good?' or say 'I like it when you do ...'. Because we are unique individuals, each of us has a unique sense of what feels good for us. So you won't know for sure unless you ask! And don't assume that your partner will know what feels good for you either. You need to communicate what you like or what turns you on. Your primary sexual relationship is with yourself. It is not your partner's responsibility to know what feels good for you.
Chapter 8: The Material Self
-I want to be successful in life and buy everything I want , all of us dream to be successful buy a cars, house and etc. hence, I will never give up in my goals to be a successful, now I treasured my book and gadgets because it helps me to improve my knowledge also I have keyboard(piano) when I play piano it gives me peaceful mind, but keep it mind everything in this world is temporary , money, cars, wealth etc ,we cannot carry our wealth when we die.
Chapter 9: Spiritual Self
-According to the Bible Jesus is the way the truth and the life he didn’t mention religion yet he says that if you have a relationship with Him you can find life, He is the author of life . Our spirit needs salvation because our body is temporary , without His Son Jesus Christ we can’t receive the salvation , that’s is the LOVE of God He sent his son to save which was lost . And I’m thankful because I receive salvation through his son.
Chapter 10: Political Self
-Politics is everywhere , but now I learned that politics can improve our skills and ideas, It seems liked politics can help us our daily life’s, And learned to debate.
Chapter 11: Digital Self
-We want to boost our self-esteem: people upload photos and statuses online that they feel will receive ‘likes’ and positive feedback in which ultimately helps their egos
- To feel a sense of belonging: Some of us want to fit in with the crowd and upload things that are ‘down with the trend’ - for instance, who notices the amount of people posting pictures of their food increasing? It didn’t come from nowhere.
