You know for the first 18-ish years of your life everyone your age is mostly doing the same things and then all of a sudden every year for the rest of your life somebody your age is getting divorced while somebody else just learned what a leaf is and you have no idea what’s going on or what you’re supposed to be doing

Talking of domestic abuse, did you know that a study by the ONS in the UK (2016) found that 16% of disabled women, and 8% of disabled men have experienced domestic abuse. This is compared to 6.8% of non disabled women, and 3.2% of non-disabled men.
Yet I rarely see disability mentioned in wider conversations about domestic abuse. And how often do you see media portrayals of domestic abuse where the victims aren’t portrayed as non-disabled women?

One of the most important things I’ve learned as a Real Adult™ is the importance of a job half done.
Today I did a load of dishes, wiped off my stove, and swept the kitchen floor. Did I do the best job, or finish every dish? No! My stove still has that caked on caramel that I need to bust out an SOS pad to take care of, one of our big pots is still sitting in the sink, and somehow a kitty kibble unearthed itself while I was wiping down the stove (?? how??).. but the kitchen looks a LOT better. It’s once again an inhabitable, usable space.
Parents, bosses, teachers, even my own self, harp upon absolute perfect completion of a task as the be all and end all of a job well done, but god damn, my kitchen isn’t terrible because I took the time to improve it. Little steps, especially when you’re struggling, are important. They mean a LOT. They are a sign that you won, if only in that brief moment, and they make getting all the other stuff done so much easier later on down the road.

Today I cried a little bit because I remembered that when Beethoven conducted his ninth symphony for the first time he got a standing ovation and one of the sopranos had to turn him around to see the audience.

the radical feminism on this site is so insidious and widespread that even trans people are falling into it left and right despite it directly and immediately hurting us all.
this is an example of why people say "you are not immune to propaganda". if you as a trans person fall into the radical feminism pipeline i am begging you to take a second to remember:
misogyny is not the be-all-end-all of oppression. men can be oppressed. women can be oppressors. men can be victims of gendered violence. women can be the perpetrators of gendered violence. the gender and sex binaries are not real, and nonbinary and intersex people deserve to have their voices heard, too. our community is a spectrum of all different identities and expriences that are stronger together than we are apart. all of our voices are important and all of our experiences deserve to be heard.
and most importantly: anyone telling you otherwise has a vested interest in dividing up the trans community for political gain. do not do their work for them.

Can I just say something honestly and very seriously to all you writers?
With the Internet going down the "nothing adult, no death, no nothing. Make it kid friendly" route,
Please don't ever stop making art or writing wips that are gruesome, horror, other things like that. Don't let the Internet sanitize how you wanna tell a story. Channel your rage into your art and keep going and don't give up

My advice to writers who are just starting out is not to put barriers in front of your writing. Don't worry about wordcount, metrics, or moral purity. Before you sit down to write, make sure you have everything you need at hand - tea, snacks, medication, whatever. Close the door. Turn off the internet. Follow your joy and then post/submit without shame.
My advice to more experienced writers is to remember to stretch your wrists, shoulders, and back. Your heart isn't the only thing getting wrecked by the time you spend at the keyboard.
