anyone else kinda miss Deviant art? like the obvious of what happened to it blows hard rocks-- but I cant get over how much I enjoyed its presence.

i loved its forums, how people decorated their pages with animated glitter stickers, niche clubs or something you can be a part of.

and while sure, tumblr has the community thing or blusky is twitter but not really, and discord can help bring folks to a space of similar tastes.

nothing really hits that itch like DA once did. maybe I will take a peek at toy house and finally wrangle that beast and see what all it can give to satiate that itch I cant to seem reach.

i just wish there was soemthin like the good ol days that doesn't shock users with "signing your name here means you'll be stuck with our newly invented AI glunkle fart! were here for you so glunkle away!" after you're lead to feel like this is a place for artist made by artists.

The UK government wants to relax laws surrounding copyright in relation to AI and the companies that want to train it and steal art to make their corporate slop.

WHAT YOU CAN DO: 1. Watch this video and get educated on the matter in more detail. (Don't worry, it's only about 11 minutes long)

2. Go into the comments and leave a heart as a comment to help the video's algorithm placement or say something on the topic instead if you feel like it. 2.5. (UK CITIZENS ONLY) Use the pinned google doc provided by the OP in the comments and send an email to your MP, send a second to the UK Copyright Infringement Organisation, and then copy & paste the written responses and answer the yes/no's on their survey. All you need to say is provided, both for the emails and for every question in the survey, in that google doc.

3. (EVERYONE) Reblog this post. Share the youtube video. Tell your friends, tell your colleagues, tell your neighbour who painted that mural on the wall of the library in 2008. I don't care that you might not want to reblog this from a kink art blog. This is important and this blog has by far my biggest audience. This issue is just that pressing. I think one of the biggest things about ai "art" that makes my blood boil is the very notion of its creation goes against anything any single artist would endorse. It's so aggressively made and used by people who are not artists and not creators, and the assumption that the act of making art is somehow inconvenient or cumbersome is what drives it. Art is not coal. Art is not water. Art is not the sea or electricity or the sun. We don't need it to survive. We need it to live.

There is no art in the natural world. (Aht! Lemme finish! Haha) it is us as humans and living beings that perceive things as art around us, whether it be a pretty sunset or the mathematical beauty of flowers and flora. Photographers are invaluable because they readily capture the true, quiet magic all around us. Once it is framed as art, it becomes art. Art is made by humans, for humans. We are the ones responsible for it's evolution across many centuries, not because of glaciers moving or tides wearing away or cells dividing, but because of our innovation to capture it in more intricate and diverse ways. That growth we've had, the growth of art itself as a medium is something that we as humans did, no one else. And the fact that people are so eager to steal the work of humans and shove it into a computer is disgusting, dystopian even.

Because I don't know how you idiots never fucking caught on that hey, dumbass - we don't make art simply because it makes money, or that it gives us clout, none of that - we do it because we want to. We want to make films, and games, and cartoons, and paintings, any of it, all of it! We want to make things, and hone our craft, and get better and better at it. We want to put things out into the world that are vulnerable and sweet and embarrassing and beautiful. When something is made by a human, there is inherent purpose and meaning behind it because of what they bring, meaning that others can pick up on and interpret. That's what makes it valuable, because of the perspective that that human brings. And if you're just giving me "art" of whatever an AI spits out because "that's what was in it's data banks" or whatever, then what the fuck is the point?? You didn't care enough to make this yourself, so why should I care? I don't know about you, but this whole AI mess has made me even more grateful and appreciative of the human art we have. I keep listening to music and going "Man... a human made this. I love that for us."

Art may not be coal or water, but it's air. It's flowers. It's a sweet smile, a funny joke, a warm hug from a loved one.

Art is love. Love for humanity, and love for life itself.

Fuck AI, and long live art. 💖

I can relate. While I may hyperfixate on my ocs in my head, I just ending up not doing anything about it.

A flaw of mine is that I not only get hyperfixated on characters, but I also hyperfixate on my ocs as well
