What kind of muscles would a really jacked merm* have? For my Mermay I'm doing mermifications of some extant characters, and I haven't YET hit the problem of "this character has Muscles as a major part of their visual design" but it's only a matter of time. (I'm poor-to-middling when it comes to knowing what muscles a really jacked HUMAN would have, but that's something I can easily look up reference for.) Do fish / eels / snakes even put on muscle? I have to assume that pinnipeds do because they're mammals, but also that it's not visible beneath the layer of protective fat.

*I've been using the term "merm" as the gender-neutral version of "mermaid" or "merman", it's shorter and easier to say than "merfolk" or "merperson".

fish muscles are pretty wacky! I don't think they build up muscle as much as mammals can, but if they did it also wouldn't look the same.

and if you've ever eaten fish, you'll have some experience seeing those layers in person and know that the bones of the fish are also interspersed between the muscles.

so in essence, fish don't rely on muscle strength the same way other animals might. and their muscles are set in such layered ways, that if they do build up more muscle, it won't show very distinctly because it will just increase the size of the whole body. they don't have nice clear muscle groups that can get "chiseled" to shape.

so a merm with big muscles will likely only have visible muscle shaping around the arms and pectoral area, as they'd need more specialized muscles for the complex limbs compared to the fishy lower body.

I’m a writer, and even though this is not my main blog, if I ever become a published author, I am not going to be discouraging fanfiction.

27. How was your Goat introduced to the Lamb? ( accidental summoning, they just showed up, etc.)

The White Goat - or rather, Azarith/Azar - was intentionally summoned by Eve (The Black Lamb), though she didn't know what she was summoning entirely. Azar was summoned when their flock started to get on the larger side while Evelyth was slowly coming to suspect that Narinder's demands would breach their contract ("Build a cult in my name") and was seeking something or someone to look after the cult while they were away.

Azar lives in a true 'mirror world' to Eve and so in the ruins of all that could ever have been his home, a dark miasma condensed at his hooves like a puddle and in place of his reflection was Eve reaching out.

He took her hand without a second thought.

34. Do they have their own place in the cult? (Do they live with the Lamb? Do they sleep wherever?)

Azarith holds the title of The Speaker - aka, Eve's most loyal follower and her very first disciple that followed specifically Eve not Narinder and functions as her voice (Eve is a selective mute) when she's around while caring for The Garden when she is gone. And so Azar gets a leader-style shelter right next to Eve's (kinda like how the crown has a mini tent haha).

39. Is your Goat manipulative? Can they convince the Lamb, a Bishop, or a cult member to do something they wouldn’t normally do?

Azarith has the potential to be manipulative - in fact, it was how he raised such a successful cult in his original world (actually it's a trait shared with Eve) but he wouldn't make any effort to do so. Indra (Azar's version of Narinder) was extremely manipulative with a tendency for gaslighting, emotional and mental abuse and excessive cruelty. If they really wanted, they could but currently even the mere idea reminds them of running Indra's cult

50. Freebie! Tell us a head cannon about your Goat!

Azarith never wants to wield a crown ever again and honestly considers them to be a bit cursed. His Shamura always waxed on how Indra was fundamentally corrupted by the Red Crown and that it was the one that convinced him to chain his siblings and siphon their power until there was nothing left of them.

I really wanted an ask game similar to the Lamb and Narinder one for the Goat. I love hearing about everyone’s head cannons for these characters and I wanted to see more of people’s version of the Goat! Of course, I took inspiration from @transtistic’s Lamb questions, so some questions may be the same or similar, but I think they’re great questions for the Goat too!

6. Who raised your lamb? 

Eve was raised by a small remaining section of her flock, particularly her mother until she was about 7. Their little family was sold out to a cannibal party by another flock trying to save their own skin - Eve was the last one standing of the flock but she had a shepherd-dog named Night Thistles who took care of her. When she was 14, Night was finally felled by a heretic and she was on her own ever sinse.

29. Did your lamb take any followers as a partner? 

Once or twice! Eve is both warm and closed off when it comes to The Garden and although she has willfully agreed to 'marry' a few, she didn't really act like they were married though the followers chalk that up to her being really bad with emotions haha.
