Los Angeles.. A city with many faces
Been in Los Angeles all day.. Its a city with many faces but its less amiable than San Francisco which I like far better.. We arrived from Palm Springs.. Palm Springs is a nice and friendly place in the middle of the desert where we had a great hotel with an even better pool.. Its about 40° there and hot as hell. There was a street festival in the evening. When we went there it became clear that Americans are not terrace people.. There were no nice terraces and we were not allowed to drink beer.. Something that would be unthinkable at a fair in Holland.. So we had a few beers in the hotel.. We left for Los Angeles early and when we arrived it started raining... Guess the rain is following me as it hardly rains here.. (as it hardly rained in Las Vegas) Entering Los Angeles you drive on the busyest road in the world, its got 8 lanes times 2.. And there are still traffic jams.. It was a whole new experience after hardly seeing any cars for 2 weeks being in traffic jams constantly.. Seen Hollywood and Hollywood Boulevard I found it all a bit strange.. I expected to see luxureous shops, restaurants and all.. I stead I saw smokeshos, shops selling the most bizarre clothes.. Strange restaurants.. It was everything I didn't expect it to be.. The walk of fame was cool but when walking along these shops, people trying to sell tours and other things it looses its grandeur that I expected it to have.. Beverly Hills and Bel Air was nice to see.. All the best brands are there, again.. They are everywhere in the USA.. There are shops and malls everywhere.. Everybody is buying things and they all buy on credit.. At the end of the day we went to Santa Monic Pier.. The end of Route 66.. And a nic place to be... And thus ends the last full day of my trip... Tomorrow a half day and then we are off to the Netherlands again.. But I had a great time but enough is enough..
